My guess would be an engine mount.

If it get's bad enough, the engine can fall out of the car...

That being said, the engine mount would basically have to turn to sand. That would take a LONG time, so there won't be any serious problems if you don't fix it. If you don't mind the bang and the shitty drive, then it's not worth the money to replace it.

I would recommend replacing the front and the side, and to do it yourself. Do the side first. If the problem persists, then do the front.

Side mount is pretty cheap.

Don't tackle the rear unless you know what your doing. Or you have an entire day to blow.

DIY can be found in the DIY list. Side is VERY easy. Front is just easy. Rear is a bitch.

How can you tell if the rear is bad..or can you? I know my front and side are bad but I would rather just leave the rear if it's fine. Cold weather and no garage= slack.

You need two floor jacks. Jack the vehicle up and please use jackstands. Then place a wooden block on the other jack and place under engine. You can then slowly jack the engine up alittle. If the mount is bad you will see a tear in the rubber bushing if it really bad the center of the bushing of the mount will be completly off center. and yes driving on bad mounts will cause more damage to vehicle. Ex. worn out cv joints, electrical problems from motor stretching wires, fuel lines and the like. Of course all of these take some time to show up.

Mine clunks if if give too much throttle off the line, jerks when I shift at high RPM with half throttle and clunks in reverse when cold....I keep spending my money on mods so I learned to use the sport shift to let it shift right. One of these days I'll stop putting it off, but at least it actually forces me to be gentle on my car
