hp gains would be minimal.

Tanabe comes in full stainless, apexi ws2 sounds a little louder then stock, and will rust.

i personally like the full stainless Tanabe.

Not really....the pipes on my WS2's have never rusted through 5 salty wisconsin winters, the only thing that has rusted is the flanges after the 2nd winter. What I did with the flanges and actually all the pipes is sand them down, put rust converter on the flanges, then put a few coats of rustoleum high temp flat black paint on the pipes and flanges, problem solved. One spot on each flange I have to redo about every other year but that's about it. The mufflers themselves won't rust, they are stainless steel.

my apexi ws2 piping rusted after 2 year's of use.

the mufflers are stainless, but the piping and flanges are steel.

So the Tanabe is pretty loud huh? I have a custom magnaflow catback and the piping is really rusty and I want to replace the entire exhaust from new headers and new stainless steel catback. Tanabe's can be had for about $650 shipped I believe, is that right?

i have the WS2 and have had it for right at a year now. I LOVE it. I was not happy when I first put it on because I didnt hear much sound difference, then after about 5 to7k miles it started to sound really sexy. Its not too much, its just right. If you have an CAI though you wont be able to hear your exhaust after about 3500 rpms. I paid $500 brand new shipped through mr.heeltoe

Just for reference there are no more Tanabe exhausts for the 2nd gen TL. They were discontinued. Apexi or CT axlebacks or ATLP - only options left.

Tanabe... my buddy Bread-A-Spec has them on his TL-S.

It sounds crazy at WOT. But maybe his CAI made it even louder hahaha

I have found the Tanabe's on websites for sale. They may be left overs though. I have a set on my 03 TL-S with Megan Racing headers and they sound awesome, even before the headers. If you find some, I would definately get them. They are nice deep and mellow until you go full throttle. Wow! NASCAR time! I also have the Injen RD CAI full length, not shorties. Plenty of air with no restrictions here. Am thinking of going to the P2R Plenums and TB spacer. Will have to mod the CAI but will be worth it.

btw jjashaa; i think you should make an exhaust compilation thread so this question won't be asked every 2 days.
you are quite an expert on the matter.

Well before you place an order make sure they physically have it in stock b/c they have been discontinued for a while. Just b/c it's on someone's website doesn't mean they have them available.

I went with Apexi. Have it for a while now. No regrets - it has the right rumble for me, not too loud (tanabe) and not too quiet (Comptech). Comptech does not make catback just exhaust now. Apexi still has cat back and exhaust.

Just my opinion combined with headers the apexi sounds great. system sounds similar to jjashaa vid I have had them for 3 years with no rust so far. hope I don't jinx myself
I like the throaty deep noise they make.

I really like the sound of the ALTP system, and then my next fave would be...Tanabe! Apex sounds nice too. Not a fan of the sound the Magnaflow system produces.

if i really wanted to eek out as much hp as possible, i would have went with ATLP.. but for half the price i went with the girthy Apexi.. a nice deep, rich tone that is perfect for me and looks very nice... looks like i have two rockets at the back of my TL

Thumbs up

Excellent job on the compilation of videos. I'd have to say though, the Tanabes sound the best, certainly at WOT. I've had nothing but compliments on mine. I started out with the Injen RD CAI first, then went to the Tanabe SMH and the Megan Racing headers last.
I don't know why, but I have been thinking on selling my TL-S and getting a 4X4 truck or SUV. I want to continue on with working on the TL-S but the Winters are too harsh here. I would hate to drop the car and put the body kit on and just have it tore off by the snow, frost heeves and pot holes....
