bwahahahaha. that harness isnt gunna work in your car.

get the 2nd gen type-s engine and u can use and 6 speed v6 tranny from honda

if u want a 3.5 u can stroke the 3.2 using the rl pistons and make more power than a 3g.

use the richie v6 harness and save yourself time and money.

use the search button to find the parts u will need.

my thread has a COMPLETE parts list. down to the bolts needed

either way you are probably looking for about 3500- 4k on the swap and i think for that 3.5 engine is way over priced.

like phee said those 05 harness wouldn't work on your TL

all the pedal, shifter and the ebrake will probably cost you around 1K if its all new parts

you spent 2300 on parts aside from the private sales..you didnt state how much you got the av6 for and you did the job yourself...its better when u are the mechanic..

you saved 1000 on labor that i cant run away from...love tools n grease but just dont have the knowledge...

im not knockin on u ... i jus feel that is my easy way out...unless im totally wrong...

and what harness would i use then??

3.5 6spd...... 3500
rest of part.... 500
labor........... 1000
total........... 5000

am i nuts?

Your numbers are completely off...

my 6 speed cost me $1150
Clutch/flywheel $750ish
Brake/Clutch Pedal from junkyard $200
I spent $750 on "rest of parts"
Richv6's harness (x)
A bunch of other minor things

I'm at $5000 as well, but you should do some serious research before you begin with this project.

Phee knows what he's talking about, he's already done the swap. These trannys are interchangable with the jseries motor

6 Speed Accord (no lsd)
03 Cls
04-08 tl

If you want more power, supercharge the car down the line. Cause if you allocate the price of $3500 for engine + tranny. Tranny cost $1k so take the other $2500 and find a used or save for a new ctsc.

From my knowledge (as in im not 100% sure) the mounts from the 3g and the 2g dont match, hence this swap has never been done. I am not 100% sure, but if you can do the swap... you have bragging rights for first 3g 2g tl.

if its 07 then it seem right but i wouldn't use 3g motor cuz it probably wont fit or you cant even close your hood. correct me if im wrong. and currently im doing the 6 speed swap

all the parts - 1600 (all brand new)
2g type S motor - 1250
05 TL 6 speed tranny - 1000
richie module - 500
XS header - 250

Total - 4600 CAD

but good luck with your swap =)

cal6tl paid $4600 canadian.

$3500 for an engine and tranny is pretty expensive gamble for something that hasn't been proven yet.

i dont even think that setup would work in our cars without alot of modification. definately gonna cost more than the 1000 he was quoted.

for sure, i was quoted more for my simple engine swap(which is why i did it myself with some help), i was surprised to see just a thousand for his. i hope its someone he really trusts or has been friends with for a long time cuz hes gonna be taken for a ride with that "quote"

im not sure if the mechanic knows this....he does do swaps almost everyday...but mostly civic... he told me if i dont get the engine that he would n den he would drop it in a voupe or a bubble....this is the mechanic u go to when u need custom shyt done ..like a turbo for our car he would hav it ready in 3 days..so im thinkin he quoted me 1000 cuz we are friends n he is ready to mod the mounts....but ill giv him a call to make sure...

so i was talking to the AFA (the mechanic)... i told him about the mounts..that there not be a direct fit...he said not a problem he would work with it...i jus need type-s mounts....

harness issue:
i told him about the richie v6 harness...he said could be an option ..but rather work with the cl-6....so then i asked him how bout finding a cl-s motor n trans..so now he is on that....

cls motor n trans with a cls ecu n harness..or a
07 motor n trans with a cls ecu n either harness

he wants to change the ecu no matter what swap i do because the tlp is restricted

i countered 3000 for the 3.5 in case he cant find something...

any inputs

jc. what im saying is that the 3.5 from the 07 is too expensive.

the harness from the 07 will not fit your car

u can keep the harness thats already in your car. buy the richie module. its 500 shipped

buy the 2003 automatic TYPE-S engine. this one will fit in your car and will work with all the harnesses in your car.

BUY the 2003 cl-s tranny, 2003-2005 accord 6 speed tranny or the 2004-2006 TL 6 speed tranny.

all of the trannies bolt right onto the 2nd generation engines and richies module handles the ECU. it works, how it works shouldnt be your concern. thats proprietary information.

my swap was cheap because i found the parts myself. u just want to sit back and let some mechanic charge u for labor and rip u a new one by upping the price on parts

my ENGINE was 380 dollars
my 6 speed was 600 dollars because i SEARCHED for it. i spent my time and dedication to find it.

and i read ever single page of every single thread. im no mechanic either, but i learned how to do it by research. nobody handed me shit when i did my swap so you shouldnt expect the same.

if you really want a 3.5 liter engine, then buy the 3.5 RL pistons and an oddysee crank and put it in the type-s engine.

it will STILL come out to be less than what your mechanic is quoting you.

if youre still apprehensive about the swap, then bring it to my shop down here. i can usually do it for under 3k.

3rd gen engine wont bolt up to our 2nd gen engine bays. unless u make custom mounts. and if ur paying a shop to do the swap, expect to see the price around 8k
