2 budget mods, ebay CAI and headers.......thoughts? advice?

G'day zine

my 2003 tl type s a spec needs a bit of work...... i have to replace all the steel brake lines, and fuel lines too (yay!), but also the exhaust manifold flange that mates up to the cat (its either the cat, or just upstream of it) is split and looks to be rotting out nicely.

My idea: I have a bit of money i can put into this thing, what are the thoughts on the cheap , 35$ or so ebay CAI kits.

also, would i gain much by installing an inexpensive header? i have seen some mentioned that are approximately 300-350, well within my price range, would this make my car sound ricey? (something im trying to avoid).

lastly, what are these cheap pulleys that everyone mentions? what do they do? benefits? drawbacks?

thanks!

I would forego the CAI at the moment, and do the headers.
the headers are the "best gaining" mod.

you can get dc sport headers for about 300-350$ which will add the most power of those and it won't make it sound ricey. There are lightweight crank pulleys you can get from about $30-200 it allows the engine to rev easier and can give you an additional 5-10 hp.

Check with some of the vendors on here. I recommend streetsideauto.com for dc sport headers they have the lowest price and usually have a coupon code off that. I had a problem with mine and they got it fixed quick

I had a friend a few years back put megan headers on his. He payed 180 for the headers and felt almost as good as DC heads. Look for them under the honda accord though

Ahhh ok.
But any just rough estimate on how much they would cost?
I could probably only pay for one and still be ok for school.

You can Get by with Ebay CAI and just change the Filter (For K&N) Down the Road...

But Headers??? Just NO they will Suck and Installing them dont compensate the Time you will have to spend to remove them once they crack a Weld or just dont fit at all.....
