Hey guys i have a 2003 Acura TL-P with about 260k miles.. i just came across a Type-s engine with 40k miles and will like to swap my old one out ...does anyone here know how to do this without having to swap out the harness as well??

Thanks!

harnesses aren't that expensive. you'll need to have a connection to the IMRC and stuff

i just recieved mine friday i'll probably plug it in tomorrow

You dont need to use a type s harness but then you would need to use a rpm window switch to control the butterfly in the manifold. I would say this route is easier because then you also dont have to get another module (i believe it is under the dash) from the type s to get the actuator to work.

the switch doesnt work. it will open the valve but it wont close it (according to NSXNEXT who tried it) you can just leave it open, no harm done.

all you need is the ECU, type s engine harness (its not on the engine??) and the gauge cluster.

you wont have VSA aka traction control for the type s

If your gonna just leave the butterfly open there is no need to buy the type s wire harness becuase the only difference between the two harnesses is the extra wire that goes to the acuator. Also if you want the butterfly valve to open and close properly at another point in time you can just use a rpm window switch to control it.

did you end up doing your swap?

how sure are you about the harnesses being the same? the type s harness was on the engine already, so i just plugged it into the type s ecu.

i have a 99-01 so maybe the harness is different between 99-01 and 02-03 tl-p's?

once again, the window switch doesnt work, it will open it but not close it according to NSXNEXT. did you get it to work?

The harness came with my engine but was cut as well... ill just leave the flap open at all times and use my factory TL-P harness with the Type s ECU ...traction control isnt a must especially with the way our trannys are i aint planning on doing much dig racing just need it mid-range..

Thats weird that mine and mikes does the same thing, every now and then theres like a little studder while just cruising so I thought maybe yours might do it also. Do you have the type s oxygen sensors? I was told by acura that the tl-p had different oxygen sensors.

nope, tl-p, only thing we swapped was engine, harness, ecu and gauge cluster

does it stutter when it shifts?
