Welcome Vuejohnny !!!
Hopefully ya got the entire front clip from the '02. You'll need everything, including both fenders, hood, bumper, grill, headlamps, latch and misc. hardware. Grab all the stuff that ya can get and try to remember how things were attached.

Was your '99 wrecked ? That may make the alignment of parts more difficult if you're attempting to DIY. Should be straightforward R & R if ya have any auto-body work experience. Otherwise, get some help, IMO.

If I remember right the radiator and radiator support are also different. The side mirrors are different as well. 02-03 are more squared

Who ever told its a direct fit is full of it. The parts line up without modifying them but they are not interchangeable.

For a front end swap it you need a hood, headlights, grille, fenders, bumper. The radiator maybe the same but the support is different.

I personally haven't done it, but I have seen the differences in my 2003 TL and a buddy's 99 TL as far as the front end goes. You'll need more than the fenders, a bumper, and headlights
