Zaino plus Wax???
OK, so I just received my shipment of Zaino Z2 polish. I know, I know, I should claybar it, put on five coats a week, etc. of all their different products.
But for the person who doesn't have the time and energy to go through all of that, and for someone who doesn't trust taking it to some car wash and letting someone else scratch it all up, What is sufficient protection?
I know that the Zaino polish will make it shine like a mofo, but will it be adequately protected from the elements? Will it bead up to water and resist sun fade the same was as traditional carnauba waxes?
Can I quit with the Zaino Z2 as my top coat, or do I HAVE to put some kind of traditional wax on top of it for actual protection? Please advise...
IF that is the case, than perhaps I should have gone with KLASSE, as they claim it is an "all in one" product. I only ask this now, because I was at the car parts store today looking at maqueirs products and they have this step 1, step 2, step 3 routine. They claim that polish is only to make it glossy, but that it takes wax on top of that to provide actual protecton? Is that just Maqueirs, or is Zaino the same way. I was thinking that Zaino was some kind of super polish that included extra ingredients to provide the gloss of a polish and the protection of wax... Is that correct? Thanks!

ok, couple of things here
1) you can treat the z2 just as wax. it's not like those polish you found out there. it's just like those wax you got out there
2) i won't suggest you put anything other than zaino on the car since it will make the future layers of zaino not able to bond together in some cases
3) since your car is soooo new, i think it's ok for you not to clay it. just wash it carefully to make sure all the dust are gone, then put on z1, and then z2 on top immediately. after that you just put on z2 whenever you feel like, of course the more the better
4) as hard as it might seem, using zaino is actually very easy. much easier than maqueirs at least imho. you just put on z1 then z2. after that you just need to stick with z2 and z5 without any other hassle
5) about the clay bar, it's NOT only for zaino. basically for ALL cars, after a while the surface will get rough and you will need to use clay bar to smooth things out anyway. so it's not something extra at all
hope this helps. i just worked on my car today using zaino and i love it

Zaino wash concentrate...
I bought the Zaino wash concentrate while I was at it. I thought that I would hand wash it myself with this before applying the polish products. It says that it is non streaking, non-scratching, contains polish and UV blocking, rinses completley, no acids or alkalines, lubricates painted surfaces, leaves a polished look...
I would think that that should be OK as well, but I will remember the Dawn for times when I run out of zaino.
Thanks again!

Use the clay!!
Sorry, but I have to disagree with the folks saying there's no need to use the clay bar. You may think that you have all the dirt off and that the finish feels smooth, but that's exactly why you need to use the bar. You THINK it's clean and smooth (I know I did) until you see the crap that comes off in the clay.
Go out and buy some and use it. It doesn't have to be Zaino's, so you won't have to be jonesing for cleaning your baby while you wait for delivery.
Whether it's painting your house, or waxing your car----surface preparation is everything. Do yourself a big favor and spend the time at the beginning. After that, the successive applications are a piece of cake.

The wash concentrate you got from Zaino is specifically designed to prevent removing wax. You should use that when you are washing your car normally, but the Dawn when you are wanting to start over at the clear coat.
I also highly recommend claying your car. I did it to mine yesterday, and man, what a difference it makes!

If the car is new, you don't need to clay it, just use Dawn.
I was a bit put off by the labor involved in using Zaino at first as well, but believe me, its a breeze - MUCH faster and easier than I expected - goes on and comes off like a breeze.
During most of the year, I washed my car after work, took ten minutes to apply. Let it sit overnight, ten minutes in the morning to get the entire car buffed off and ready for the road before work!

DOn't listen to these people that say that there is no need to clay bar. This is a very important step and you will notice the difference even if you think it is smooth now. One of the things that claybar is made to remove is rail dust. When your car is manufactured it travels down a railway in the manufacturing plant, and the railway gives off dust just like brakes do, therefore as soon as you get your car it is already contaminated. USE THE CLAY BAR.

Thanks guys!
Yes, I did misunderstand the need for the claybar and dawn dishwash before the first application of Zaino polish.
I just re-read the instructions inserted in the Zaino box, and they say to use Dawn to take off the wax before using their products. THEN use their car wash concentrate for subsequent washings.
Will do... Thanks again for all of the help

Two points:
Dawn does not remove polymers, like Zaino or Blackfire. It removes Caenauba very easily. Every car is prepped at the dealer and they typically put some crappy wax on it to make it look good for a few days. Loaded with silicone. DAWN WASH FIRST.
Yes, you need to clay your car even if it is brand new off the truck. No matter how new, there are always things like rail dust embedded in the clear. CLAY IT FIRST

Ditto with Master Zaino NSXNEXT's comments.
One other thing is get the ZFX if you want to cut down on the time it takes to cure.
Don't wax over Zaino, you'll loose the dust repellency for one
