In a way, he is right thought. Our 4th gear is f@cking useless, helpless, and hopeless on the highway. The IS300 is not only more fun to drive, but also more comfortable. If you compare the knee space... I got long legs. I also believe that the frame of the IS300 is stiffer and stronger.

I got friends that drive IS300, what a nice car. But hey, my car is not that bad after all. My Bimmer and IS300 friends all agree that they got almost no backseats. Damn... when all the girls just hop on to my ride. I don't really care about those extra weight that slows me down.

After all, they are different. You want to comapre them because of what? The IS300 cost more, and is way smaller in size. Just because they have similar 0-60 performance doesn't mean that you should compare. Oh, btw, it's all about the driver on the twisty road. Of course the TL will really need a set of performance tire.

After all, you should really just compare it to the Bimmer, that's the reason why they design the car. I still like the Bimmer more, but that's just me.

p.s. what color is your IS? the yellow is da bomb, but blue is the best IMHO. Silvers are pretty good. two of my friends got silver, and one got the yellow. Maybe I will get a blue 5spd. If they have the auto-dim mirror and more hp by then... haha...

I got a TL, but I have to say that I LOOVE both cars. The TL looks really classy and it's got all the little details that I want in a near-luxary sedan. But I love the IS's sporty look and feel, especially those 17's. I wish my TL had rims like that. So everyone put down your fists, pistols, shotguns, chain guns, or your weapon of choice and shake hands.

Not a bad idea, but it's tough to get a guys plate when he's behind you. I was hoping he'd follow me to the next exit, but can't say I blame him for continuing on.

this'd be funny if the is300 didn't have *less* leg, hip and shoulder room than the '01 cl (type s or otherwise).

never let the facts get in the way of a good argument, right?

anyway... TL should be compared with 5 on size wise. to 3 on price wise. class wise, I still think it's VS 5 series. anyway, IS300 with auto tranny is just...

This is going nowhere...
also... this is ACURA-TL.COM why are some IS300 owners here? if you want, we can all go over to IS300 board and post shit just like you guys.

Hey bro, I also own a rear wheel drive car and it's also automatic, I'll race you and let's see how bad I beat you

Just kidding. I was one of those that use to talk a lot of trash about the IS300 til I drove one. I think the car's well made, not bursty off the line but it got some gitty up on the highway. BTW, my rear wheel drive is a BMW 540i (wanna race?)

I don't know who the black TL was but I have a good guess considering you live in Jacksonville. C'mon fess up, it was just a friendly race. Plus this IS300 owner wants to meet up and hey, who knows, you guys may turn out to be good friends!

But seriously, MSMLexIS300 your car's not bad, but I think that "chip for my dip" is kinda "fighting words" on this forum.

Welcome aboard.

Thumbs up

Yes the IS is not THE car, but it's certainly not a Civic. I think Acura went too mainstream and conservative with the RL, TL, and CL lines. They have gone forward somewhat by offering a body kit for the TL and the CL-S. Even so, if I were in the market for a "larger" 4 door, the TL would be the car of choice over the Camery, ES, or Avalon. Unfortunately I'm a die-hard 2nd generation Legend fan as well as an IS owner.

If any TL owners are in the north Jersey area on the 10th, a bunch of Legend/TL owners will be meeting at the Liberty Science Center that Saturday. So far, there will be about 3 TL's there along with around 10-15 Legends. Stop by.....

Uhhmm, he raced a TL not a TypeS. I rode in a TypeS and you have every right to say the IS is slow compared to the TypeS with headers. Now, I'm not sure if the TL he raced had headers, but I would assume not.
