106,600+ miles

- Transmission replaced under warranty
- Front and right side engine mounts at same time as transmission
- Replaced shitty warped OE rotors with Raybestos Advanced Technology rotors and haven't had a problem since. It's been about 20K miles or so.

Other than that, just typical maintenance like oil changes, plugs, tires, and most recently the 105K mile maintenance. No breakdowns or unexpected repairs.

Although at my next oil change I will be replacing the damn oil pan. The oil drain plug threads were damaged from the previous owner and they finally gave out with the most recent oil change. I wasn't happy with the way the oversized plug went in so it'll be a new pan in about 6000 miles.

I forgot about my sway bar end links. Replaced the wimpy OE links (clunking sound over sharp bumps) with Moog sway bar end links. MUCH better than OE ones.

since i had the car Feburary 2009 (80k)

windshield wipers
regular oil changes
front brakes replaced--midas (screwed)
front brakes replaced 2nd time---midas (screwed)
4 front new tires
balancing and rotating tires
wheel alignment
regular transmission fluid change
cabin air filter
spark plug replacement
clean egr port and valve (annoying process and i did it in the winter)
front and side engine mount
brake fluid flush
front and rear rotors & brake pads (did myself)
passenger side caliper bracket replacement
timing belt & water pump & coolant flush
5000k hids
keyfob
new hood struts or hydraulic holders

now i have to replace my rear driver side window regulator and get 4 new tires and replace my cracked front-shield and replace the 2 tranny mounts and rear mount. i spent a good sum on the car so far. not bad for a 99 though(111k)

Your rotor problem is most likely related to to your brake pad problem. It sounds like you have bad calipers. They aren't releasing completely so the pads are constantly applying some pressure on the rotors causing them to overheat and warp. At the same time your pads are wearing out prematurely because of this. Get some new calipers, new brake pads, new quality rotors (not necessarily Acura OEM), and flush the old brake fluid out. That being said I highly recommend Raybestos Advanced Technology rotors. Should take care of your problem.

Hi Gfaze :

The calipers are original with exception of the one replaced which is an OE reman unit. I remove all the calipers, lubricate and free up the pads once per year. It doesn't seem to help much but I can now do a brake job on a TL in my sleep !

Part of the my problem is I use the car in an urban setting with low mileage but lots of starts and stops. That said, I have always felt that our cars have undersized brakes and that Honda used an accountant to decide on their brake systems.

There has been significant discussion on this board regarding which brake parts are best for our cars. From what I can determine, most of the comments and experiences seem to eventually return back to OE Honda parts.
