Yet another replacement tranny question.

I had my new tranny installed a couple of weeks ago. I noticed yesterday that when you put the car in gear or if you put it in park it makes a "click". The car doesn't jerk or anything like that. It almost sounds like when you are playing with a notchy standard with the car off. (Do you get that explaination for the sound?) I noticed the same noise for the first time a few weeks ago and my tranny died within a few miles.

Is this "click" normal? Honestly I never noticed the noise before the day that my tranny died. I put it into park at a drive through and heard the "click" for the first time, and remeber saying to my fiance "that didn't sound normal." About 5 miles later my tranny died.

Is this a normal sound that I never noticed and coincidentally the tranny died right after the first time I noticed the "click"?

The car has been driving fine. I'm just a little worried. I'm sure that all of you that have had their tranny fail are a little parinoid now and notice every little sound that your car makes now. I'm just wondering if any of you can shed some light on this.

Sorry for the double post.

my car does that too but its busted now, my guess would be to call and ask a service manager at the dealership that you trust whats goin on.

Well mine does the same also, everytime I start the car in the morning or afternoon when I shift to Drive.....The dealer said it was nothing and that the Acuras do that all the time......I guess I ll have to go with what he said.

I think it does when the car is not leveled!!

i.e. when on a slope......cuz its harder for the car to get the gear out of park...

I know what you are talking about, but it happens when the car is level.

Never recalled my car doing that. Just when i put into drive while the car is coasting downhill, which seems completely different from your situation. All I hear is just the sound of the lever moving. Get it checked up just in case. You can never too cautious.
