Yellow Fogs

Hey everyone, Im thinking about going to Home depot or local pepboys to get engine paint, (500, 900, 1200 degree) engine yellow paint.

I will paint my stock fogs to yellow, to achieve the IS300 yellow fog look.

The question is, do you think the paint will start smoking/burning off the bulb? I dont want to risk screwing up my stock fogs and housings.

Oh and, yes, i have already tried the yellow film, it worked GREAT. BUT i didnt like the look of it during the day...

The bulbs will likely burn-out prematurely if they don't start to smoke and give off soot into your fog-light casing. Not sure what the surface temp of the bulb is, but I'm sure insulating it with paint isn't gonna make it happy. I thought about doing the same thing.

Maybe you can paint the chrome part (reflectors) yellow instead of the bulbs?

wouldnt painting the reflectors yellow defeat the purpose of "reflecting"?

you'd probably be better off with the film. i think painting it would just block the light and that would be pointless

I actually don't like the idea because it sort of makes the fogs looks like a turn signal during the day.

it would look hot, but the only way someone found of doing it is using that yellow film.. i wonder if modifying the reflectors somehow would work though..

Well if you want to paint it, then as you said before, you don't like the yellow look of the lens during daytime with the film.... you will get the same effect. Looks like you can't have what you want unless you do a complete conversion from a lexus car which would cost you a lot of money.

yes there are yellow ion bulbs, but they are gay... yellow up close, white far away...

I think my friend with IS300 wants to trade fog lights with me... if i do convert my fogs to IS300, i will post up some pics.. hopefully all will work well...

painting the bulb won't do you any good. it will greatly reduce the light output of the bulb.... very bad imho. and personally i dont' think yellow fogs look good on the tl. that's why i went with superwhite
