Question XPEL and/or 3M protective film

What's up with these things, are they the same? As my car has just arrived, people have mentioned using XPEL on my fogs. I have heard about 3M film before and was thinking about it for my hood.

Where can I buy this stuff?

Thanks!

They are the same thing. xpel is just one of the companies that sell it. Try these sites to purchase www.xpel.com or www.stongard.com

Expel covers the hood and front fender of your car more than 3M does. Therefore, it costs more.

Xpel is made by 3M, the coverage issue is just stretching the material to cover the area needed. That extra cost is for advertising.

I like it (I want to cover the whole car with it) , the only question I would have is whether or not it would damage the paint over time, if I had to remove it.

No one seems able to answer that question.

Thumbs up

To my knowledge, Xpel and Stongard are two companies that distribute the 3M-manufactured product to their resellers. The two companies take a little different approach as to what their "packages" cover and in the way they pre-cut each piece.

The products are usually warranted against causing problems with your paint... but you can read Stongard's warranty info for yourself, if you'd like.

Personally, I decided to go with a full Stongard kit and also sprang for their Light Protection kit. The stuff's absolutely amazing, and most folks don't even see it until I point it out to them. I'd have to say it's the best mod I've done to my car. My only problem with the stuff is that you can't cover your entire car with it!

Good luck,

Vincent
