PM or email FTM-1 or do a search on his screen name. He's got it and likes it.

I love it! My HU (Pioneer Premier) was XM ready. I have a Terk antenna on the trunk. It is about the size of a computer mouse. Endless music and CD quality. Highly recommended!

I have Sattelite radio also. Its very cool. Look at http://photos.yahoo.com/pimpitman
One problem is that the reception isnt that great every 5 minutes or so it will cut out for a second or so.

I have not noticed that being a problem. Where is your antenna located?

I really enjoy my XM - I have the Pioneer GEX-FM903XM tuner installed. I have NO trouble with dropouts, unless my antenna is shaded from the southern sky (very tall trees or buildings).

One word of advice - if you plan on using XM with the factory head unit, pony up an extra $100 or so and get a Blitzsafe adapter so you can connect the XM tuner directly to the HU. Blitzsafe makes adapters for all 99-03 TLs for the Pioneer, Alpine and Delphi tuners. The sound quality is MUCH MUCH better than using an FM modulator.

Blitzsafe has a list of dealers on their website (www.blitzsafe.com). I believe that Ron at StreetEffectz (Ron@StreetEffectz.com), who is a big contributor in the Audio and Electronics forum, also carries them.

Absolutely! I use XM in conjunction with my stock HU (and I also have a 2003 TL-S).

You'll need to get an XM tuner intended for aftermarket applications. I chose the Pioneer GEX-FM903XM because I liked the user interface, but Alpine also makes a nice unit. The Delphi Sky-Fi is really cool because it displays current info (like artist or song title) for 5 channels at once. However, it will require more space for the install.

Regardless of the tuner you select, be sure to get a Blitzsafe adapter to get the highest sound quality from your installation.

For more information, check out the Audio and Electronics forum - there are a couple of ongoing discussions regarding XM installation that should point you in the right direction.

Happy Holidays to all!

Yes I have had XM since June of this year & I just love it.
After getting the intial unit replaced in the 1st few week & the bad antennas from TERk replaced with the Pioneer antenna Augutst.
I have had no problem with it. I put over 2,000 miles on the car in one week in September going from D.C. to upstate N.Y. & back & the form D.C. to coastal N.C. & back. I listen to one XM channel the whole time. The XM played perfect the whole time with no drop outs.Everybody that gets in the car & listens to the music enjoys it also. I will be back home in a few days but will be on here untill then FTM-1

I just bought a Yukon XL which comes with a XM Satellite radio tuner (90 days free subscription); if I drove it often enough to listen to XM, I might almost consider paying the $10 or so per month for it.

One thing to note is you have Sirius Satelite Radio while everyone else has XM Radio, so everyone's experience is different than yours because you use a totally different service..

Thats true, is there a big difference between Sirus and XM?? Im not sure about the specifications of each. I had to get Sirus because it was integrated into my headunit.

XM is a lot more popular and is being integrated on new GM cars, the new Accord and etc.... Sirius is less popular but has Commercial Free "MUSIC" but it still has commercials in talk shows, News, and other channels.. and XM only has 4 min commercials per hour.. Its not that bad.. and XM had more Selection of chanells too..

Read my review from a few months ago on my XM setup...

http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/showth...threadid=44822

Please note that the SRP of the components I used have decreased significantly since my review in August. I'm still enjoying my XM radio setup.

How much did you guys pay for the complete installation? Did anyone have it done at a chain store such as Best Buy, Circuit City, or Tweeter?

I had mine installed at a car audio/security shop.
This was the same place that installed my Clifford alarm when I purchased my TL 3years ago. I paid around $300 total. This was for the Pioneer FM modulator unit & for the antenna & service.
XM had the $50 OFF rebate to give to the installer & TERK had the $30 OFF rebate on its antenna. I did not not get the TERK rebate because I swithed to the Pioneer ANT. The TERK antenna gave me problems form the start. The connectors are very small & sometime pull out very easy. This happen a few times when I first got my XM. The display message on the XM unit said antenna but I was still getting a signal. Then the display message would switch between the antenna & channel/music title. Once they changed from the TERK to the Pioneer ANT back in AUGUST the system has had no problems. I montee the Pioneer on the trunk but alot of people don't like the dildo look of that type of ANT. They want low profile ANTs like TERK. My car is black the ANT is black & I can take it off the car for security reasons if I want at anytime & then put it back on again.

Mine was installed for free at Circuit City during XM's special offer during the summer. I don't know whether they will have another such special soon.

My dealership wanted $500+ for equipment and installation. I paid $185 (receiver) + $75 (antenna) + $0 (installation) = $ 260.

As for the range of the antenna....I used the Terk SR-1 glass-mounted antenna because it a) provides the best range and b) I have a black TL and wanted to preserve my paint. Works great, and I get questions about my XM service because of the antenna.

Good to see you're still enjoying your XM, FTM! I got mine this summer after you and SwampGas showed yours off.
