XM in 2004TL
On one of the XM channels I listen to most of the time with my XM set-up in my 2000 TL channel 60 Soul Street they have been saying that the 2004 RL will be the first ACURA to have it.
I do not regret once buying this product I have enjoyed it for almost a full year now. I was skeptical about buying it at first untill I saw all the channels & music selection they have. Some of the music I listen to goes back to the 8 track and 45 record days.
This fills voids that AM FM stations & even CDs can't fill. Once XM is put into more main stream cars like ACURA & HONDA it will take off.

But Ya I wonder how the XM is tracked to give you service?
is it built in or what?
Like on a dish it has a Smart card, so does XM have some chip built in..
"Hacking" to get free service?
Come on, you drive a luxury car...you drive an Acura...a classy car. Try and ACT classy. If you can afford a $30,000 Acura you can most certainly support XM and pay $10/mo for service.
As for activation, the chip is deactivated by default. When you subscribe, the satellite stream sends down an activation code using your serial number on the chip for several hours. Leave the unit turned on and it will see the activation code...and viola...it works.
Not sure how deactivation works...perhaps it randomly sends down the deactivation code every few days for a year incase someone is attempting to use the unit.
