XLR8 Performance: J30 / 32 Crank Pulley Group Buy?!

Hey Acurazine,

We hope everyone is healthy and well in these crazy times!

As some of you may know, we used to offer a light weight crank pulley for the J30 and J32 engines. They shaved almost 7 lbs off the stock pulley weight off, and looked great doing it. The XLR8 Crank Pulley was made from a lightweight aluminum, designed to help reduce weight and free up horsepower - without the additional rotational weight of stock pulley more of your engine's horsepower is available to go straight to the wheels.

These pulleys feature a stock diameter and are perfect for engines with a factory or aftermarket supercharger to maintain factory boost levels. High wattage aftermarket audio systems also benefit from stock diameter as many audio competitions require voltage to remain at a specific level.

The build quality:
  • Constructed from aluminum for improved horsepower through weight reduction
  • Designed and manufactured in the U.S, using U.S. produced materials
  • Precision CNC machined to fall within .001"" tolerances
  • 0 gram balanced
  • Includes XLR8 Full Warranty

Weight Savings:
  • Stock Weight (lbs.):8.5
  • PUL-J30/32 Weight (lbs.):1.6

Vehicle Fitment:
  • 1997 - 1999 TL 3.0 V6 ALL
  • 2001 - 2003 CL ALL
  • 2001 - 2003 MDX ALL
  • 1999 - 2003 TL ALL

Helping to bring them back?

Due to the fact that the pulley in question was made to fit vehicles that were well over a decade old (almost two in some cases) XLR8 had decided to discontinue the J30/32 pulley. The vehicles it is designed to fit are getting harder and harder to come by, and the aftermarket community for them has began to slow down. We did not want to get caught with a fresh pile of shiny aluminum pulleys collecting dust!

With the above being said, every action has a reaction, and it seems like with the discontinuation of the pulley came more interest in it. We wanted to put this thread together to help gauge interest in the pulley amongst the community - and should the be enough interest, get a group buy together to get the next batch into production!

Retail previously was $249. If we could collect 10 or more J30/32 owners who were seriously interested we can begin to discuss pricing and out pricing and lead times. If you are interested please send me a PM with your first & last name, vehicle info, and email address. We can get you on a list and pass along the updates!

Hey Acurazine,

For those who are interested, please fill out the group buy form seen below with all the necessary info:

J30/32 Pulley Group Buy Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...rm?usp=sf_link

We figured that would be a little easier to track than PMs and emails. If you do have some questions please feel free to reach out however.

Happy modding!

YES! Might be my last chance to add this mod to my 2000 TL. Would the benefits be noticeable alongside with my full header back exhaust and AEM V2 intake?

since it weighs less, you're just taking off rotational mass...meaning it's easier to spin up.
you'll hit redline faster!

Nice! Anything to make my old car more efficient, I’ve been hoping to see a new production run of these pulley’s since I’ve heard nothing but good stuff from them.

Count me in once the link gets fixed. Lol

It will free up some extra horsepower (typically 3-5hp & a couple of ft-lbs) and add some flair to the bay.

They make for a great finishing touch and don't break the bank!

I just have one question. Would shipping to Canada be an issue considering the current situation?

We are still shipping out packages, and at this time international shipping can be organized through certain parcel services!

If the circumstances change we will let everyone know!

Was this tested yet about having to replace all the pulleys in order to make its rotational pull relevant? I seen a post a few years back about it on a 4g threat and was curious if it was noted facts or opinion.

I can't find the thread I originally had in mind, but you can see some dyno numbers (except for the actual charts because it looks like it expired) in the 3G Forums HERE. 4hp/2ftlbs without any other pulleys in play!

Now gains are nice and all but is this like replacing the flying the whole concept to free up rotational weight? And if so wouldn't that play in the same category per say FI cars how you want the original heavy one? I just know in my older turbo cars it played a negative effect on them.

We are about half way there! Once we have enough people to justify collecting deposits we will post up here and begin to give everyone a call or an email to get things into production.

Thank you for the support!

Only a few people shy as of this morning! Thanks for the support guys!

Once we meet the required numbers we will begin to collect payment and get them into production. Hopefully this week!

I saw a picture on UR's facebook of a new design with a better layout of holes. Here's a picture:

Is this post for this new design? The picture you provided in the original post is just the same pulley that was already sold. How close is the buy now?

Got an email stating that this group buy was ready to move forward with taking deposits. I would still like to know if you're taking payments for the old version, or the updated one.
