Post Xenon HID Lights

(sorry i post so much but i got my car tonight, i have some questions.)

I've seen xenons on Audis, S2000, etc. How come the xenons on the TL look like those xenons for only 30 sec and then they go back to how other cars look? Is there anything wrong with my car? If there isn't.. could i put some REAL xenons on "MY TL" (god it feels so good to say MY TL, after 14 days (1209600 seconds) of waiting for my car).

(so far i've made 3 trips to the garage just to sit in the car.. each one lasted 15 min and my dad had to come dragging me back in.. I feel another one coming on )

there is nothing wrong with your HID lights. They become blue-ish right after you turn them on cuz they are warming up. When the temp gets a lot higher, they become white. If you have another car in the garage compare the lights, they look totally different...

Audi's and bmw's are purpleish and blueish because of the reflectors and the housing of the HID.

My lights are like that...it's just warming up I guess. When I got my car, it had just came in also and still had that wrapping around it and only had 5 miles on it. Congratulation on your new car! Enjoy.

yep, thats normal. Although they don't look as "cool" as the other lights b/c of the different reflectors (I think ours uses a diffuser), the light coverage is great and I have no complaints at all...except that I don't have an excuse that I NEED driving or foglights...

Well, I felt a need for a set of foglights though. It gets friggin foggy in southern LA nowadays. I missed my exit ramp on one of the foggy nights and realized, damn I need more lights!

Wassup behnam,
First off, congrats on getting your car, must of been getting anxious!!!!
I've seen xenons on Audis, S2000, etc. How come the xenons on
the TL look like those xenons for only 30 sec and then they go
back to how other cars look?
Like everyone said it takes time for the lamp to heat up the gases and as for the AUDI's and BMW's HID, they use a projector HID unit our's uses a sealed HID unit, personally I think the TL's HIDs has a better spread pattern but your right I do like the look of the AUDI's and BMW's it's much bluesh/purplesh color!!!!
But don't worry the TL does has real HIDs, I can always spot a TL/CL out at night!!!

I agree with everybody here. Our HID does turn to white once it is heated up. But rest assured that it is a real HID.

But damn, those HIDs from Audi and BMW is sweeeeeeeettttttt as hell!

One drawback of HID is foul-weather lighting. The whiteness of the HID's can't penetrate fog, snow or heavy rain very well. So yes, you have an excuse to buy some fog or driving lights. BTW, with the aftermarket HID kits you can change the hue of the light by using the bulbs of a different manufacturer. People are using the OSRAM bulbs because they have the purplish- Audi look to them. I don't know how they pair to the OEM Acura kits though.

A TL was following me the other day, and I was surprised at how blue the lights looked from behind.

Don't worry, they're very blue

I agree with mentl. At certain angles the TL HIDs do look bluish but not as distinct as the Audis and BMWs (projector style). That's because of the diffuser in our HIDs.

BTW, hey legendc, where can we get the OSRAM bulbs for the purplish looks for our HIDs?

certain angles... we got dope lights...
but i think the problem is... you turn em on during the day...
during the day... HID looks regular... not too regular... a bit whiter...but nothing special...that's why you leave em off lol and flick em on at night... yeah they blink right when you turn em on...they are blue...then fade out a bit... but at night time... after driving... you get used to it and barely notice they are blue...but others in the car, that have crappy lights, will compliment you lol and on coming traffic will defnitely notice you.
btw... i rather have my lights than AUDI's...ours are atleast always blue... AUDI's looks blueish purpelish from angles...then fades at another angle and turns regular... they look sharp as hell from an incline though... that's about it...
hope this makes you feel better.
btw...don't compare your TL to a CLK brabus none the less... its just a disapointemt lol.

Most of the Legend owners were using xenonshop.com to purchase their parts. Perhaps you should drop an email to them and ask about the bulbs. Everyone has said that they are more than helpful.

Cool

Hey, you can have that blue tint all the time. I was reading on this site: www.hidkits.com . They say that HID lights have that real blue tint when they are first turned on and then they fade to normal mode... You can have blue mode all the time if you are willing to spend tha chee$e playa !!! Check this site out if you are a baller!!!

hum... I know how you feel man... when I first got my car... Not only that I can't sleep, but I can't even stop driving it!!! Damn... I was driving on the highway for about 4 hours... just can't stop.... TL is a very smooth car, and my friends love the back seats.

Oh, and you HID is fine... The TL is really standing out at night because of the HID. It is very bright compare to other cars... The German cars do look more "blue" but I think some of them are not Xenon lights...

Hey I just put new wheels and tires on the car and keep finding excuses to go to the garage. I haven't been this attached to a car for a while.

My lights do the same and I like them, bright and a great spread.

Welcome to the board and prepare to be addicted.

I wonder if the bluer Euro HID's have an even harder time lighting the way in adverse weather conditions.... Maybe we have an advantage by not being so blue/purple...

VTEC: My brother got him CLK from a mercedes dealer. Its a 1999. Then he did the brabus stuff on it. Your dad's S55, now that's PHAT! I'm not sure about the SOS button. Honestly i don't really like his car that much. Its really hard to drive. I feel like i'm gonna scratch it or something. It feels very heavy. He usually takes my TL out when i'm home.

(His car is a 99 but he only has 4,000 miles on his car.)
