Wrinkling Leather... is this normal?

I have a 2003 TL-P and I noticed that the leather has wrinkles, like lines where the leather seems to be slightly more baggy over the actual seat. I know that the TL has fake leather, but is this normal still? The BMWs, Benzes, Infinitis, even Lexuses have tight leather around the seat, and I was wondering if the TL's should be like this, judging the tightness of its competitors.

this is just a style of leather... its normal, we all have it... well, the TL-P has it, the TL-S does not...

Is it really a style, or just a result of fake leather?

And also, because the TL-S doesn't wrinkle, does it mean it doesn't have fake leather also?

Guru,
Why do you keep saying fake leather? There is vinyl on the outsides of the seats, but the inside part where you sit is real. And yes, leather does nautraly wrinkle over time.

The wrinkeling is just the leather stretching from weight being on the same spot time after time. The TL-S may not do this as much because of 1.) the seats are stiffer and 2.) the perforated leather probably helps prevent it too by giving the would be wrinkle a natural hinge to work from.

its not fake leather..

only the outer portion is fake. the middle of the seat is real leather. that's the part that wrinkles.. The fake part is tight..

that's just what happens over time. in your case you've noticed it earlier. it has to do with the weight distribution and the type of leather. it's normal though, don't worry.

LEXOL LEATHER CONDITIONER/CLEANER TREATMENTS ONCE A MONTH WILL ENSURE THAT YOUR LEATHER DOESN'T GET THAT "WORN LOOK"

yea from my experience the leather conditioner works relaly well..it gets out the wrinkles but not totally. only makes it less noticable. try it on your leather shoes where you have those hard wrinkles..it should help a bit

the wrinkles in the leather of the TLP are there to give the leather a more supple feel...as apposed to the sporty feel of the tight leather on a TLS...the TLP seats are softer because of the wrinkles..more room for the cussion nderneath to stretch and conform...

no no no everyone, guru isnt talking about the leather wrinkling naturally, hes talking about how the TL-P has the purposely folded over wrinkles in the seat!

Do you guys recommend using leather conditioner? I read a while back that our leather seats are clear coated, and using a conditioner will only wear down the coating on the leather. Thus, I've only used 303 protectant on my seats.

Exactly what I mean, darkshear, the car came with the wrinkles... i guess thats to give it a more supple feel, but it looks kinda cheap in my opinion... then again, thats how the car can be sold at such a low price, and the fake wood... looks like real wood, it doesn't matter.

The "gathered" leather has nothing to do with price, it's just how the designers wanted the seats to look.

If you don't like it go to a leather upholsterer.
