WOW, a TLS tried to race me today
Driving home from a meeting in my 540i, a white TL-S was next to me going about 70mph. I speed up then he follows, I slow down and he gets next to me and won't go. past me. He takes off firts and I go after him. The TLS, not bad to about 100mph. After that, I walked away from him. Then I slow down and we both give each other thumbs up. My kind of race, whether I win or lose.

Unfortunately, I pulled very easily from him after 100-105mph. It must be that 4th gear thing in the TL/TLS.
All in all, I think the TLS did well considering it was moving towards the high end. Off the line, I expect it to give me a good run but high end the BMW will just pull away. Remember, it really isn't a fair race since I have a V8 and he has a V6. I noticed that my TL doesn't have too much punch in 3rd gear after 80mph and 4th gear on my TL is like a 7th gear or something cuz it has like no power.

I agree with the 4th gear complaint. I took my S-TYPE to a deserted straight road, for the hell of it. Started in first and used ss, the car pulled hard 1-3 gears but when I red lined third and had to go to 4th I definitely noticed there wasnt a whole lot there. Like being in 5th in a mustang or even 6th in a Z28, I guess 4th and 5th are more or less for OD only.

Anyone know if there are any Acura transmission specialist or aftermarket mods available.
Man I miss the ease in which I could find anything for my old Chevy. Sigh.

I hate that 4th gear thing. You punch it and you're thinking, "what the hell's wrong?! Why am I not moving?!"
I haven't tried it yet but I assume you could manually shift down to 3rd.

Try adding comptech headers. They make their power in the upper end and have really helped in the 4th gear pull. Also, lighter wheels and stickier tires.
