If he knows the true condition of your ride and you have 5500 dollars then i would do it. Just think though. If yours is jacked up and he still wants to trade then what is wrong with his
75000 miles. he knows about my check engine and he added some $ for that. they are both salvage titles, becuase we both got em from copart. he is a friend of the guy who bought both of our cars from the same auction.
Something sounds fishy to me... but you have to drive the thing, so go and check it out. I personally wouldn't do it... the tranny issue alone will prevent me from doing it. Acura ain't going to replace a tranny on a salvage titled car, so you are going to be trading a car and out $5500 and maybe another $5k if the tranny does keel over... college student, right? Don't get raped on the deal, bro...

for 5500 you can either do a 6speed swap, or just swap a type-s engine and auto trans, which will leave you with the tranny question/problem.
IMO I would keep what you have and do the swap for the 6speed. Its a totally different ride, no trans problems, and faster then the auto.

What you do is go to aamco or similar type place and have yours rebuilt for $2000-2500, maybe 2800 with rising cost everywhere.
The 99, 4 speed, was a very good trans and well worth hanging on to what you have
The 03 has a few expensive recall repairs that you cant get for free anymore, like a pully misalignment affecting the timing belt wear- so timing belt-water pump- pulleys- tensioners- thats a 1000-1200 right there!!

I have a salvaged 03 TL-S that died at 68K. salvage = no warranty = no new tranny = fail. I did the 6 speed swap for lets say roughly 3k, and I'm loving it!
