Is it worth the money...
I have been a looker on this board for a while now. I have a 2002 TLs with a few mods. I am looking right now at the SC and the big brake kit for my car. My question to everyone is if you have the money would you get the SC and brake kit or would you spend a little more and trade your car in for something better. My wife tells me I should stop spending money on my car and trade up for something I don't have to mess with so much.

yeah, do the math on the parts alone... then add the labor (unless you know how to do all that stuff yourself), that's alot of $$$. Then look at other things like your credit... can you get another car with good interest (with the money you were going to spend on the SC and Brakes as down payment)? You might be better off going that route. Then again, if you were to "upgrade" on a car... your insurance might go up too. You gotta keep all those things in mind... (I'm sure there are a least half a dozen more things to consider). Someone else posted this before in another tread re: SC, it hasn't been out long enough to see if it'll cause "problems" , like... can our tranny handle it in the long run etc. etc...?

Yup you are right about that ( wanting to mess with it). I also have a 2002 X5 4.4 in the garage with very little miles on it, My wife reccomended we trade in the X5 and the TLs and get a E500 or E55( if the insurance does not kill me). I guess I might call around and see if any dealer has one for a test drive .

The s/c in my opinion IS worth every bit of the money. It is from a tried and true company. You get great gains for a FWD vehicle, but the gains are mostly utilized on the highway. The car will be quicker than a G35 or MB320/430 (moderately slower than a C32), more reliable than a BMW M3 but slower, quicker than the BMW 5 series, etc, etc...
Reliability is Comptech's key feature: your car should run smoothly for 100k miles without messing with the blower. That is worth every bit of $4,000. In the long run, that isn't bad especially when considering your TL-S was less than $31k to begin with...
Besides, it isn't the 2004 models that really catch my eye, it will be 2005 and 2006: The trend to performance is here and everyone will be upping each other during this period. Woo hoo!

i've read 4.2

plus AMG = handmade cars like a bentley or rolls
if possible save up and get the e55
