Worth fixing my TL ?
Hey guys my 2000 TL need an waterpump job and the tranny just started to slip in 2nd or 3rd gear .When cruising the car just revs up and goes back down when on a steady speed. I just hit 120k miles. Is this worth fixing or should i just cut my lost? thanks

Do you fancy a new Car?
Do you think a new car payment is cheaper than fixing it?
Can you afford paying a new car?
If you said NO to any of the above questions then YES FIX IT! then sell it if you don't like it.

Yes, I think its worth it to fix it. You might need a new timing belt as well. I might cost you 2-3k unless you know someone that can do it, might be cheaper.
I have an 01 with 180k on it. Still rides like a champ. Still happy with the performance. And extremely happy with no car payment.

Yeah Dragonman, ya gotta evaluate your financial situation and then make the decision as to rather or not ya want to invest in repairing your TL.
If ya really like the TL and don't want a car payment, once ya do the T-belt service and replace the tranny.... you'll have a solid car for a few more years. With only 120k, the car has lot's of life left in it. Should be good for 200k.
Installing a donor Honda tranny and replacing the T-belt stuff is gonna cost ya about $2000 ballpark. The car isn't going to be worth much as is on a trade or to sell outright, less than $1000 ?

Best case scenario finding a used 06/07 Honda Accord tranny for 600-800 bucks and installed fpr under 1500.00.
Worst case scemario finding a remanufactured ttanny for aboit 2500.00 installed with warrantu.
Note: Rebuilding your transmission will most likely fail again .

AV6 Tranny and the Aisin t-belt kit Cheapest route IMO, Now the labor that's for you to find the right place and price. I once took my TL to a generic shop and missed a bunch of bolts, Noticed later on. I say yes its worth it.

Check out the Accord tranny swap threads for more detailed info. The swap is actually a basic bolt on upgrade to save our TL's.
