winter car questions

okay this is my first winter with my baby.
i just have a few questions:

how long do you have to let the car heat up b4 you start to drive it? or do you really have to wait b4 you drive it, like is it really going to make a difference?

No need to wait. Just don't drive it hard until it's warmed-up.

less than 30 sec as the manual says...

coz too long may cause the vapour staying in the exhaust and will damage ur car in long term~

but do not drive hard b4 it's fully warmed up

Its no need to warm the car up unless you need to remove snow/ice/frost from the windows & need to run defroster.
Just wait a few seconds & drive slow for a few miles until the Temp needle moves to the normal range. The car will warm up much quicker this way.

How about when it is -21C like it was here this morning ?? A couple minutes warm up should take place before driving away I think.

Did your car have frost/ice/snow on it? If it did you would crank your car to run defroster anyway & warm it when you scrape or clean your windows. I am not up on my metric table what is -21C in degrees F. The lowest temp here in D.C. since I have had my 2000TL was about 1 degree. That was a few years ago as my car will be 3years old on the 28th of December. I find the car warms up much faster when driving slow for a few miles. The owners manual even says it warms up faster this way.
