Update on Transmission Problem

As most of you know, I have a 2002 TL with 36,000 miles when my transmission failed. The second transmission was not right and as such I am on the third.

Suffice to say I was not happy about a major component failing.

As such I sent a letter asking Acura to buy back my car as I was very unhappy.

They wrote back confirming the extended warranty of 7 years or 160,000 kilometers, which ever comes first.

They also said that they have repaired and updated the new transmissions and this problem has been resoLved. This is such bullsh**.

PS, they did not agree to buy it back. Surprise, surprise.

just out of curiosity, when the tranny fails, how long does it take to fix? my old honda's tranny died 3 days after i got it, and I think it took them about 3-4 days.

Hey, Blex
Sorry to hear about it man... so you have 36K miles... thats about 58,000 kms... Hmmm... I'm at 41,000kms right now on my 2002... Which dealership are you dealing with... So far you are the only TL'er I know in TO that has had a tranny replaced (let alone 2 !!!)

I am still waiting for the tranny extension... I think more and more now I'm going to buy the ext. warranty... I plan to keep this car (knock on wood) so it will probably help knowing that I'm covered for most of the major stuff.

TLS RULZ, I am dealing with Acura 2000 in Brampton, which I have been very pleased with. I note that the tech at the delaer confirmed there have been several TL transmissions fail.

To Comet, the first tranny took a week to replace and the second four days.

Week? 4 days??

I only assume that it took a week/4 days because they had to order the transmission?

The actual repair should only take 5 hours or so. It is a simple transmission swap (remove the old, install the new).
