Windshield Wipers causing problems. Please Help!
hi all...
recently I have been having problems w/ my windshield wipers...whenever they are on, the left wiper (from drivers view) goes to far off the windshield and hits the frame of the windshield making a banging noise and then when the left wiper goes back down it just hits the bottom of the windshield again causing a bang. It must be something with the motor or something...any help is appreciated...thanks

NOPE its not a matter of adjusting things i assume you have a 99- 03 tl if so you need to replace a part on the wiper trany .
1 remove both wipers
2 remove the cowl panel
3 remove the top metal arm and replace with a new one ( from dealer )
4 reinstall in reverse order
you will know what im talking about when you see it its a metal rod about 1.5 feet long with little white plastic caps on the end
grab it and if you can move it around while its still attached thats the problem
its easy

anyway its usually just the one, but I have seen both of them get worn out
its just the plastic end caps that wear out it pretty common on the 99-03 tl i guess you have to take a look to see if its one or both.

so i finally got a chance to get under the hood and remove all the cowl plates and what not and from what i saw....it looks like its just the front arm....specifically the white plastic cap....it was separated from the other half and had too much play when rotating. so im just gonna go to my local acura and pick up that arm for $18....hopefully it works.

Hey TheWrangler99, The fix is exactly as explained above. Relatively simple DIY job ! Once you have it apart, it's self-explanatory. The longer driver's side wiper stresses the white bushing caps and causes them to wear. Less than 1/2 hour to replace the arm from the ww motor linkage.

It'll eventually get worse as the bushings wear. Alot depends on the speed and load on the wiper arm,.....in other words, once it snows or have some ice, you'll experience more banging and erratic movement of the wiper.
