Question Windshield Question

I just had my windshield replaced and the shop told me insurance is allowed to use none honda parts on my 2002 TLS but told me everything should look same but after getting it back something looks really different.

It looks like the black etch at the bottom is too low so now I see under side of the hood and windshield wipers completely from the driver seat. Also where the rearview mirror is attached I see the wire coming out from the roof liner. I swear I didn't see this before.

Anyone who has 2002 TLS could you verify how low your windshield view goes and see if you see a wire coming out of the rearview mirror and the roof? Shouldn't there be some type of cover to cover the wire? If you have any pictures that show these it would be very helpful!

Thanks.

the wire coming from the roofliner is the same xact thing i noticed after i got mine replaced. but my gf swears it was like that before. i havent looked in aother tl yet so i donno if it was already there or not. the wipers you can adjust yourself. just unscrew that 1 bolt that holds it in place and adjust your wiper accordingly. hope this helps

Mine has been replaced and looks the same as it did. No wires visible and you can see a little of the underside of the hood on the TL (at least on 02-03s). But I can't see all of the wipers, just part of them.

What company makes your windshield? Mine is XNG or XYZ or whatever it is and it looks just like stock.

OK. I stopped by the Acura dealer to check out some of the 2002 TLs on their lot. Reason the wire is showing on mine is as someone stated the mirror is placed about 1 - 1 1/2" further down from the edge of the roof than factory windshields. I also noticed that etching part behind the rearview mirror is much thicker (~2") than factory. Also the black etch at the bottom is slightly lower on the new windshield but not as much as I thought. I for some reason thought you couldn't see the under side of the hood from the driver seat but I guess you can very slightly. I actually see the little screw thing for the windshield spray with my new windshield.

Make on my new windshield is PILKINGTON.

I just don't get how insurance can replace it with something that's not exact and we have no choice over this.

hummm now you have me curious b/c i had my windshield replaced recently and i'm not sure about the liner at the bottom, i think my mirror is still in the same spot, i gotta go look one day. i'm not sure of the namebrand windshield i got, but the sign where it usually says the make and model # of the windshield isn't on the corner, it's right in the middle at the bottom.....

What brand is yours? Maybe I should ask them to put that in if they won't put the factory original. I insured this car with factory parts so I just don't understand why insurance won't replace it with factory original parts!

As I said earlier in this thread, my windshield is XNG (I believe this is what it says). Looks identical to the factory one.
