windshield covered under warranty?
Yesterday as I opened the garage door I noticed a thin line on the passenger side of my windshield. At first I thought it was a hair or something, but as I took a close look at it I realized the winshield glass was cracked. It's about 12 inches long.
Funny thing is it was perfect the day before.
Two days ago, I drove around for about 20 minutes. That was around 7 pm. I know it was hot and humid but, it wasn't baking or steaming hot. I cam back around 7:30 and decided to wash my baby. I let my car rest a bit, maybe 5 minutes, then I washed her. Then I ABSORBER-ed her, from front plate to the back plate.
nothing. no crack. no nothing. Then yesterday I noticed it was cracked. Does anyone have any idea? I'd understand if the winshield cracked the moment I sprayed water. But that's not even the case here. It must have happened overnight. Oh and there's nothing on the ceiling of garage that could have hit or dropped. Dunno what to do. Should I check with dealer? Could it be covered under warranty? my common sense tells me "no, it's not covered" Is it just me or has this happened to anyone on this forum? Your inputs would be greatly appreciated.
Thx

Well.... it may be covered. If there is no impact mark on the glass which would show that a rock or something hit it then you may have a chance. If it's just a crack, you can just say it happened. Don't even say you sprayed water or anything, just say it was fine, then you came out the next day and there was a crack and it's been growing. I think they may replace it for you. I would go straight to the service manager though.
Otherwise, if you have glass coverage on your insurance they'll cover it. If you don't... add it... wait 2-4 weeks, then file your claim.
Good luck!!

I just had the windshield (stone hit) on my 2002 TL/S replaced, paid $100, insurance got the rest.
They did it in my driveway, took about two hours.
Replaced the Acura glass with Pittsburg-Corning glass... which the techs claimed was actually better (extra layer of lamination) and more expensive than Acura stock.

I am covered with full glass, but as it is on the passenger side, I will buy a repair kit for now and wait til the spring to replace it. Hell, with the road sanders out it could happen as soon as I replace it anyway. . .
