Try to use non amonia glass cleaner and instead of using the cloth or towel, use newspaper. Change newspaper frequently
You will get streak free and no lint left over like cloth or towel.
But remember change newspaper often.

i talked to this detail guy cuz i had water spot on my widows... and he said he would have to buff it off... so i asked what kinda "buff" he uses... and he told me it's basically just like car wax... so i went home and "waxed" my window... and IT WORKED.... water spots = gone... i used the meguire clearner wax
but only do that to your exterior window.. I use Eager 20/20 .. its a clear window cleaner (unlike windex)

You can pretty much use anything on the font windshield as long as the stuff you are using doesn't get on tinted glass..
Since I have tinted windows.. I use a regular amonia free window cleaner and some newspapper as well.. but you gotta have semi-dry paper.. spray a little on the paper, wipe it on, then turn the paper to the dry part to buff it off like you are trying to shine shoes.. The corners and down towards the bottom where the dash meets the windshield are particularly hard to get clean..
If the newspaper ink gets too wet, it will actually cause more streaks.. thats why you should change the newspaper often like Bigmonkey said..

Good old Bon Ami does wonders for front windshield film. It costs 90 cents at the local store, and is a mild abrasice that you should work up to a light paste. Make small circular motions on the windshield, and be careful not to wipe the paint (abrasive will scratch it). Rince it very well. I do this about once every 6 months and it is probably the best ten minutes I spend on car care!
