window tinting question: brand of tint

I'm in Houston and basically there are several choices....
3M, Medito (or was it Medeco)??, Lumar etc....

Which one is better to use? I hard Lumar is the best but expensive. The shop said I can go with Medito (better than 3M). The high quality (life time warranty) Medito will be the same quality as Lumar but less $$$.

What do you guys think? I just want to do it right (and save $$ if I can) but trying to avoid cheap tint that would fade/peel or wahtever on me years down the road. Also, what is a reasonable price to pay for a tint job? thx.

Lumma is the best. It has a nice dark metallic color. Other tints show purple color when out in the sun. You will also need a black vinyl piece to go on top of the inside rear glass or it will not look complete with just a tint film. My car has PT-28 tint sides and rear. Got mine done for $190 with a lifetime warranty as long as i own the car.

I just had my windows tinted using Llumar window tint. The installer said Llumar is excellent because it has metal in it to prevent it from turning purple in the sun.

I had 15% put in and it looks really great!

I got mine tinted a couple of weeks ago with Madico (I believe that's the one you were talking about) 35% metallic graphite tint. It is kind of reflective at the right angles. I think it looks great, and has a lifetime warranty at any Madico dealer.

I paid $175 for all 5 windows.

Any "smoked" tint has dyes that will fade/blue. Only the completely "metallic" tints are immune (those with no dyes). The differnces boil down to the quality of the dyes and films used to produce the tints.

I have always been pleased with 3M's best "smoked" films. Now, I've never had a car tinted with them for more than 5 years, but the bluing in those films has been very subtle.

Beyond that, I have NEVER experienced an adhesive failure with 3M. Cannot say the same for Madico, Llumar.

My $.02

Okay, after a lot of calling around, price checking etc...Found a place in Houston that would do my car with Lummar tint for $129.
This tint, as i was told, is charcoal color with metal in it. It has a lifetime warranty.
I think I'll go 35% all around. Was thinking of 20% on the back but that might be too dark with our already tinted glass (very slightly). Plus, I also think that if keeping all the windows uniform, it would look nicer. I also like to have it tinted but not too dark...a little on the lighter side i think would look more elegant (constrasting with my black car). But that is just my taste. I will ask them to do the four side windows first then if it looks "too" light, I might ask them to do 20% on the rear. Will let u guys know.
