just out of curiousity what tl model made it sound ricey??? was it a type S that had it done? or was it a TL or TL-P???? cause i have read that the type S exhaust is more free flowing then the other TL exhuast.

RICEY?? My 03' tl-p only had 1 mid resonator and I got it removed. I have no idea how you would ever think that it sounds ricey. Unless you are a little on the special (yellow school bus) side and think that your catalytic converter is a resonator I'm just not with you on this one. If you'd like to state your opinion go ahead.. theres no need for childish name calling, we're all adults here.

Lightbulb Trying the Resonator delete !

My 03 TL-S is ready for a deeper sound. I am Going to remove the resonator in the middle, and see how that sounds. Will let every know when it is done and how it sounds. And screw all the dumb ass people always writing bullshit messages. Do what you think is best for your car guys ! Don't hate, appreciate. LOL !

Not Bad !!!

I really like the low growl from 1-3k rpm, and when downshifting in tiptronic mode. It has a suttle but nice sound. I think the extra power with the TL-S makes it sound a little bit deeper. I will get a sound clip up soon, but really busy ! So many new mods for my ride are coming soon, REAL soon. Will get pics up too.

Removing Resonator.

To all asking about the sound of the resonator removal, the tone definitely gets deeper but very suttle. You can also remove the intake resonator for an even deeper tone. I removed my resonator but felt it wasn't enough. So I went ahead and had them slap on new mufflers. Wow, it is so deep !...Almost droning, but not ricey one bit. Definitely a deep growl. Will post clip tomorrow or Monday when i have a free second.

I just had my mid muffler removed only yesterday and it sounds like a sexy beast. Even the muffler guy that did it for me was like, damn! it sounds aggressive. I didnt get the smaller one taken out because I was afraid with raspiness and a high pitch tone like a ricer if i got it done. The muffler tech. didnt recommend it cuz of that as well. Happy with the turn out and possibly going to get intake and headers as well in the future. After my tax return that is.. 2 gs b*tches haha.

of course they can. If you keep them and are willing to pay to have them welded back in.

i took them both off, the little one doesnt make a difference. get the big one taken off, then see if your satisfied with the sound, you can always get the smaller one taken off later

If you plan on keeping the stock mufflers remove both. If you ever plan on getting aftermarket mufflers dont do either, or remove both but add a 16-22 inch resonator.

I have my muffler looking resonator removed, and I love the sound! Now I'm comtemplating if I should get the "apple juice" one removed. I really want to hear a TL-S with both resonators removed so I can make my decision!

Did you remove both, or just one? Sounds good.

Thinking about doing this to my car too. A cheap and easy mod!

Nope, just the resonator. No point in removing the other so called mid-muffler. Sounds very deep with the mufflers. I also suggest maybe doing the muffler first, if you like it, perfect. If not, then remove the resonator. As i had removed the resonator and still wasn't happy, though it sounded better !

What kind of mufflers do you have? I have the muffler looking resonator removed from my '02 TL-S but it sounds nothing like that. Its actually pretty quiet with it removed.

Sound Clip pt. 2

Here is another clip in the daylight. Maxspeed mufflers w/ resonator removal. The mufflers have a 3 inch tip from a 2 1/4 " inlet. Very Deep ! I love it ! Feedback please !

I'll end the confusion and choices right now...If you have a TL-P, get both removed. It sounds awesome. Don't worry about buzzing, too much groan, and so forth. It's a great mod and if u dont like it save the scraps so u can get them put back on. I just had it done today and I pulled up to a red G35 and the guy told me to roll down my window and asked me if I put the G35 exhaust on my car.
