Will 6.5 Alpine TypeS speakers fit?

Wondering if 6.5 Alpine TypeS speakers will fit in the front doors? Any thoughts?
Can I do 6.5's all around or do I have to stick with 5.25s?

there is an audio/video section under the off topic area - search around and you will find out all the info you need.

but to answer your question - you can put 6.5 inch speakers in all 4 door, but you will have to enlarge the original hole some to help it fit (stock speakers are 6 inch). Your only limitation is from the lack of available depth to work with - but that information is all over the audio/video section

this should be in the audio forum where the guys there are gods.

but yes 6.5's fit all the way around. if you can get shallow mount you can get away with not making spacers.

I believe alpine type s speakers have a pretty deep mounting depth, something like 2 5/8"-2 7/8" which is pretty deep. Our stock speakers cuttouts are not deep. You will need to use spacers and they still may be too deep. I would get 6.5" with neodymium magnets, kenwood excelon speakers have neodymium magnet. I put those in my wife's corrolla, no spacers needed, they are amped and they sound amazing, after 2yrs of abuse they are holding up great. Much better then the Infinity Kappa's I put in before. those blew after a few months, being amped by same amp 50watts rms.

I went through 4 pair of the Kenwood Excelon speakers in my previous truck (when they were purple then silver)...so its all relative of course. But I agree those speakers have a shallow depth that would be good for our doors and they did sound pretty darn good - my Focals are the "slim" line and they are very thin also.

ya they are pretty expensive, but they really sound amazing with some good power behind them. I have 100 watts RMS/speaker and they are crystal clear. I could only imagine what the Utopia series sounds like (top of the line, over $1000 for a pair of 6.5 inch components).

For a less expensive alternative, the Kenwoods were/are very good

you guys might want to take a look at Hertz speakers (italian). My buddy just started to sell them and he let me hear them... WOW. I was really impressed by the sound quality. Even their bottom line is pretty good (for the price you pay). They're kinda like Focal, but louder (while still keeping the same, great sound quality)

one of my soundstream front speaker is messed up due to lack of clearance (the speaker cracked cuz it was hitting the door panel, it was fixed afterwards but it cracked again...) so i might try a pair of mid-class Hertz speakers in the front.

I had 6.5 alpine 2 way before.. blowed 1 .. if you whant them to fit you will need a spacer unless that you windows will not open with the spacer you will need to cut the border of plastic between the door and the door panel .... i have kicker ks 6.2 now and they fit just right.. and are more powerfull ..

I remember buying a pair of alpine 6.5" type s speakers before and trying install them in my wifes corrolla, they didn't fit but I did connect them to hear them and they sounded great, better than Infinity Kappa's, but not quite as good as the Kenwood Excelon's. Now if I were you I would buy Eclipse point source 6.5's, they don't have the power ratings of the alpine type s or infinity kappa's, they are 100watts, 50rms, but they can handle more than that easily. Eclipse point source speakers absolutely are the best value you can find, they blow away even some MB Quartz coaxials. you can find on ebay for about 100 + shipping per pair. Check 'em out.

^^^^Best setup, if you are on a budget.

OU sig, did you purchase your focal speakers online, or from a local source? No one carries them around here, and I'm always leary on purchasing speakers I haven't listened to.

I got mine online - you can get them from Car Toys if you have that store around, here is the site.

you should see some of their home audio equipment. They sell some speakers that are nearly $10k for the pair! They also make the drivers in Wilson Audio speakers (some of the most expensive speakers in the world). Very interesting company
