Wierd Tranny Shifts

I am experiencing wierd tranny shifts when I am stopped on a red light. With my foot on the brake, the tranny or what feels like the tranny shifts and the car kindof moves forward, or acts as if wants to move forward. It feels as when the AC compressor kicks in and it affects the motor and causes all sorts of different shifts either the tranny or engine. Is this normal. Yes I know, not that easy to explain but hopefully someone understands what I am trying to explain. Thanks

The RPMs go higher (it is the same as pressing the gas a little) when the a/c comp. kicks in, since your car is an auto and you have the car in gear the car will want to move forward. Make sure when stopped and in 'drive' that your foot is on the brake pedal with firm pressure.

My care does the same thing ('03 w/ 2600 mi). It seems to be one of the quirks with the car. It seems as though the trans is the weak point of the car there are constant posts about full tranny replacement. But for the most part as long as there is warranty there shouldn't be much to worry about.

When the air compressor kicks on, the Idle Air Control circuit opens up a bit, to compensate for the additional load on the engine. Since the torque converters in our cars are so tight, you feel a slight surge forward. Any clicking/clunking under the hood is the AC clutch going in and out.

So, in this case, the tranny has nothing to do with it. Perhaps they could have gotten the IAC timing a little better, so that it kicked at a more correct time after the AC compressor clutch engages.

My 2003 TL-S does it, too. After stopping at a traffic light, about 3-4 seconds later it feels like the tranny downshifts from 2nd to 1st, and the car wants to move forward. Doesn't seem to hurt anything (at least at this point - 1400 miles!)
