Question Who's heated seats stopped working?

I have a 99 TL-P and my heating pad in my seats are no good. My warrenty doesn't cover the heating pad so I want to know if anyone knows how much the heating pad cost, and if anyone here had to have theres replaced?

Yes , the infamous heating elements!
I had mine go out luckily when the car was still under warrenty, then they went out again when the car was just over warrenty, and now the drivers back went out, but the cushion is still working.
Boy i tell you , i have had a lot of problems with this car, maybe it was a bad investment, thank god i have a new toy, 2002 s2000!

If i remeber correctly they could run around 400 or 500 installed at the dealer, good luck with that one.

I don't turn mine on that often, only when it's freezing out, otherwise I don't really like the heated seats, feels like I gotta go poop.

Nope it is a design issue. I dont remeber the specifics but there was a person on this board that took the seats apart and saw the burned out pad. Poor design and materials. Consider that the seat heaters for a car that is only 5 years old. They are only occasionally used in the few winter months that we have here in the mid atlantic...maybe 50 times tops each season. In 5 years, that is 250 uses. Pretty poor failure rate considering the cost of replacing (400.00). Actually, mine went out last year so it was only after 4 years (200 uses).

Oh well...I need to move to S Fla and not worry about it NEmore :-)

Later,
Axe

My drivers side (both back and seat) doesnt work. Really bothers me cuz it gets freakn cold up here.
I want to get it fixed but figure its at least $500.00 CAN$.. not worth it since I'm not sure how much longer I'll have the car.
I dont think its a connection problem, I cheaked that already.
I'd also like to know the DIY price.

For a little while the seat bottom part would get scorching hot, now only the warmer on the back works. Shorted out?

you can replace it yourself do a search on the cl board, i remember some members doing it themselves and it was pretty inexpensive. Try a search for heating coil. Mine was still under warranty so i got lucky

I don't know if it is the biness opportunist in me, but why don't some of you folks in the south capitalize on this. Just sell your heating elements to those fine folks in the north.

Sounds like a good deal to me, aside from the folks in S. Florida tearing up their seats to get the heating elements out .

I had the back of my seat go out, I am just gonna wait and get it replaced later. I wonder if the ones in the new '04's are any better and/or if they would work in our cars?

The heater element is a cheesy stick on pad. They are a pain in the ass to put on seeing as the seat needs to come out and the leather needs to be taken off. I have done a pile of them so I got pretty good at it. You will need upholstery clips aka hoggrings and the special tool to intall them. I DONT reccomend it as a DYI. As far a price goes..I am not to sure. I am guessing about 50 bucks. I will find out and let you all know. Putting it in is what is gonna hurt your wallet.

My seat back heater went a couple of months ago, I had it looked at and acura ordered the part for me, but I haven't gone down to get this fixed yet. When I had it looked at I was still under warrenty which is good. They said it needs to go acrros the street to their leather shop they use. Couple of questions for you.

Will there be any damage to the leather when they put it back on?
Will they use new leather or the same one?
If its new leather, will it match exixting surfaces?
Is it really worth getting this fixed?
