Post Who to tip?

I just got my car serviced at the authorized dealer. They also replaced my engine mounts which is great.

Now the question, who do i tip? I mean im used to going to a small shop where i tip the guy who worked on my car directly. Here im dealing with some guy who has an office and its totally different.

Whats the process here?

I know this is a bit off topic but since i have an 03 i dont know where else to post.

Ask your service guy who repaired the car. They would know who it is exactly.

It is my first time that tips are accepted at the dealer. Don't they charge enough?
If a mechanic does more than you expect and you want to show your appreciation, I would write complementary letter to his boss and or/or send him a good bottle of wine.

I disagree, but that's just me. I think the guy would probably appreciate the cash a lot more, no? Ask the service writer who worked on the car, and tip that tech if you feel it merits it. Beware here though, you may be creating an expectation.

I also agree that a letter is better. Not only do you create an expectation, but the letter may help him get a raise or even promoted...

Related question - if the dealer offers you free shuttle service, do you tip the driver? If so, how much?

I would never tip anyone at a dealer or any other shop for that matter. They charge enough as it is. Tips are for people in positions that make next to nothing/minimum wage and rely on those tips as their main salary. If your pizza delivery guy or waiter was making $15 bucks an hour from the establishment at which they are employed, you wouldn't need to tip them either!

I agree if you're happy with the service, then write a letter- the tipping thing is getting ridiculous. Some people expect a tip just for doing their job the right way. The dealership isn't the place to tip, since I'm sure you parted with a lot of money to have your car fixed. If one of the service techs did something for you for free, then I might see it reasonable to give them a little $$$

Tips at the dealership? hahaha...sorry, but I would never, ever tip anyone at a dealership. Like docrob said, tips are for people who rely mostly on tips and are making next to nothing (as some waiters do).
