Who has had the backlight behind their clock break?

Seems like a lotta people have had this problem. As far as I know, backlights quite often last the life of the car... what gives?

I had it fix by the dealer under warranty. It looks like to replace the back light you need to disassemble the steering column and console.

The bulb aint .75 cents unless you got a hookup at acura. Damn bulb is like $6.00.. this is not an autozone or pepboys bulb.

mine went out a few weeks ago. Its under warrenty so I took it in to get it replaced, but the guys at the dealership definitly f'ed up and put in the wrong bulb, because now the clock backlight is noticably dimmer than the rest of the backlighting in the car

Man, I wish this would work with mine. My car's clock backlight has been out for a few months now, and it's out of warranty. From what I've read previously, it's a pain in the ass to change out the light by yourself. Does the dealer really charge $150 to change this? If so, that's OUTRAGEOUS!

Wow.. the evidence of a crappy clock backlight on the TL is really stacking up... Kinda pathetic when Honda botches something as simple as a clock backlight.

tried tapping/hitting but no luck. i even bought the bulb myself and printed out the DIY off the site and tried pulling out the dash but it was impossible. people have said they've noticed creaks after the bulb has been replaces, so i'll pay the dealership to fix it just before i sell the car

i hit it a couple of times but it didnt lite up again. boo its been out for a few months already. i asked a local shop for replacement and i think the guy told me 60-70 bucks for labor and a few bucks for the bulb (my warrenty is over). i rather buy a nice multifunction watch/clock thing and mount it in the car!

I bought a bulb from the dealership for 5 bucks and installed it myself. It was very easy to install, you just have to be okay with taking your dash apart.

i hit mine (lots and lots of times) it has stayed on for over 1.5 years. HIT IT! fuckin honda and their cheap ass backlights. i had the same problem with my old prelude, and my dads accord. its so annoying. my 'reset' light is off all the time now too. hitting it used to work, but doesnt any more. 90% of the time its off, but once in a while it'll come on by itself. so annoying. i wish it would fucking decide once and for all. are you burnt out or are you just fucked... stupid light.

my 99 accord did the same thing. Nice subs in the car only makes it go out faster. Both my TL and my Accord went out after some loud stereo listening.

is there anywhere online where I can pick up this bulb? some people have been saying pep boys /autozone and some others have been saying dealer. Where's a good reliable place other than the dealer? I looked at this bulb and I don't think I've ever seen a bulb like this at pep boys....

This is really a problem with Honda/Acura. Check some of the other Honda owner web sites. I've had a 2000 Accord and a 2002 Oddessy and the clock light in both of them went. Both were covered under warranty. The light in my 2002 TLP just went too.
