Who got the best deal??

My girlfriend has owned her CL for about 2 years. It's an '01 SSM w/NAV. non-typeS. Her stepdad owned an auto-leasing agency and had this traded in. Her mom ended up paying the company like $17,000 for the 21,000 mile 1.5 year old car. Awesome deal at that time. I have always loved her car and after my Lexus IS was totalled, I started looking for my TL. I had to buy another vehicle eventually because I couldn't find the Acura with the deal that I wanted.

At the beginning of December '04, I saw an 01 TL w/NAV on ebay with no reserve. I closely followed the auction, spoke to the dealer that owned the car, and ended up winning my TL for $14,500. It's an '01 Laguna Metallic Clearcoat w/only 42,700 miles. It was also advertised as a "one-owner". I am having to put some bread into it right away though. Some hack really fucked up some bodywork and left some structure damage unrepaired. So, after I fix all that, it looks like I will end up having spent around $15,500 total on the car with no mods. I am lucky in the fact that I am a service writer for a body shop, otherwise I would have probably spent close to $3000 on the repairs.

So, I was just wondering what kind of deals other people may have gotten on their TL's. Only post if you actually worked the deal AND paid for your car. No offense, but I don't care how many spoiled brats are out there, I already have one of those at home...lots of kids get their cars given to them, so it's cool, but I want to hear from people that worked their own deal from their own wallet.

it sounds gd for a 01 TL with a decent mileage

in canada the dealer lists the 01 TL at around 18k plus tax

$13,900 for a 2000 Acura TL - Not Type S - No Navigation. Firepepper Red with graphite interior. 57,000 miles. Drove to Dallas for it -- apparently there's a big Honda auction in Dallas, so there are good deals in that city!

absolute gd deal, 5spd worths more than 4spd for sure

and firepepper red is cheaper due to lower demand and popularity, but it looks gd anyways

After thanksgiving of last year I got my WDP 2002 TL-S w/ navi for $19,500 from the first owner. He needed the $ b/c he was upgrading for another car & the dealer was not willing to give him this much. It came with all service records & was real clean.

$12,900 on an '01 SSM NON-type S. Drove to Dallas from Houston to get it and searched for over a month. 51k miles with a single leased college student driving it and the only flaw being a rusty exhaust system.

Bought my 00 WDP back in March of this year with 36k on it. Paid 16500+TT or $17125 out the door. More than I wanted to spend as the car wholesale was worth in the 14s, but I got it from a dealer and the miles were low for a 4 yr old car.

i got my tl-s for 30000 with 2500miles, i was going buy a new one, i told the sales manager what i want pearl white with ebony type-s, he said only 2 percent of the vehicle line is what i looking for(i think he is bullshitting), they did not have any instock, plus they are the only dealer in the state (hawaii) but when we work at the #s it would be 34000 because the car just release not long ago. but my friend bought the first pearl white that the dealer got from them, he found a good deal on the house. so he needs to sell the car, i got a good deal i think, because i saved couple grand, on the bad side is that he already got a sound system in car. he got the guys remove them and put back to stock, but stuff like marks on the screw cap on each door, battery cover and some minor stuff i had to buy new ones because i couldn't stand the scratch. only bad thing too is that he finance the car for 5 years, he is only on the second payment, i have to pay him first so he can pay them and then i got the title

I definitly got the best deal here. i know a dealer that works at a pre-owned dealership. ive been good friends with him while growing up (family friend). and also the manager of the dealer is my dad's college schoolmate. so for a 99TL-P, stock with only 60k miles for 10k. perfect shape, just a few rockchips on the front bumper. the interior was definitly in perfect condition, brand new set of tires, and the engine was running without any problems. checked carfax, no accidents or anything. clear record.

after i bought it the only problem i had was the catalytic converter, but that was covered by acura warranty. went to the dealer, dropped it off for a day, drove the tsx around, and it was all fixed. now i have 70+ miles on it and still runnin smoooooth.

cmon mannn 10K for an acura TL??? muhahaha

I bought my 99 TL non-s, w/o navi 2yrs ago with 60k certified pre-owned. It was actually more expensive than the 00 with same miles, but I knew about tranny issues and 99's have much fewer so I got that one. I paid 14,900 for it in Lynn, Mass and it has been the best car I have ever owned. It looked brand new when I bought it and looks as good now as it did when I bought it. People I meet always ask how old my car is and can't believe it when I tell them. The say. "It looks brand new." Then I respond take care of your ride and it always will. I think the best deal is a great car, good price, great reliability, great looks and performance and I got all of that at the lowest price within a 250mile radius from my house(check out www.autoweb.com).

1999 tl with navi

Got a black on tan with 78,000 miles on it for $10,540 but had to take the train from seattle to portland to purchase it (3 hours one way). This was 5 months ago and have already transformed the car into something much nicer.

peace

I agree, no such thing as too much money....what do you do for a living to afford all those cars at 25 yrs. old??

btw, in my opinion, you should've picked another color for your Benz. It's beautiful, don't get me wrong, but the upkeep is going to suck....
