where to mount aftermarket navi/gps

I'm considering getting a garmin 660 for my 03 tl-s non navi. I live in cali so we are not allowed to mount it on the windshield. I'd also prefer not to mount it on the dash due to my perception that it will increase the likelihood of a car break in.

My current thought is that the best place to mount it would be via a vent mount but I have yet to see a single picture of anyone doing this on an acura tl.

can anyone offer me some thoughts on this subject? thanks.

Give Bracketron products a try!

Hi Padway,

give this site a try.

We don't have that law in place yet, but currently stick it to the lower left corner. I did purchase the Nav-Mat Portable GPS Dash Mount which turned out to be for other reasons. I purchased another one for my brothers TomTom One which has the worst original mounting option. So maybe you can have the GPS on the passenger side with the Nav-Mat.

I got a Nuvi 200 for Christmas, and though there are no laws in VA about mounting to the windshield, I didn't want mine up there.

I picked up the portable friction mount at Best Buy similar to this one:

I stick it on the middle front part of my dash. It is easy to see/reach yet does not block my view at all. When not in use, I lock the unit in my glove box and stick the mount under my seat. It has not budged yet when driving, if you are concerned about that. It is fairly heavy and has a good rubber grip on the bottom.
