I use 93 Octane from Sunoco exclusively. I have found that Sunoco worked the best back on my first new car ('95 Sunfire GT), so I've been using it ever since. I used it in the Sunfire, in the CL, and now in my TL-S. My wife used to use Mobil, but I got her to try Sunoco and once she did... she was hooked. The car ran smoother and she got better gas mileage. That was about 4 years ago... she's been using it since.

I'm sure all gas is very similar... but in our cases, Sunoco is our choice....

I use only Chevron out here in Cali. They're by far the best out here..We only get 91 octane gasoline though. I wish we had 93 or 94 out here

What does Acura recommend ? 91 or 93 octane ?
I'm using 93 but gas mileage sucks rocks. I'm talking 27 miles per gallon (ALL FREEWAY)

I'm pretty sure Acura recommends 92 octane or higher.

27mpg isn't that bad. Advertised is 29mpg highway... so you're not that far off. How fast do you drive? If you're doing 55-65mph you'll probably get closer to 30mpg.... I know that I drive 90% highway miles and I only average around 24.5-25mpg b/c I drive around 80mph......

I was under the impression that 93 octane burns hotter & faster, that is why my mileage was not too great. Was thinking of going down to 91. I drive at 75-80mph too....so that may account for it. Double Darn.

Read the manual...it CLEARLY states use 91octane or above! As for myself, I could care les what brand I use as long as it is 91. I drive too far to be picky on which gas stations I can stop at.

I don't really stick with one brand, as long as they are one of the following: Mobile, Exxon, Sunoco or Amoco. I will never never never use Hess!!! We, I and other friends, had bad experiences with Hess gas. Their premium runs like regular. Once you put Hess gas into the tank, you'll feel lose powers right the way. Even my wife who doesn't know anything about cars can feels it.

Well... just remember this: Always use Premium gas and no Hess!!!

Aside from the additive packages all gasoline is exactly the same (of the same grade). When gas is put into the pipeline to be transported across the US dealers (Mobil,Hess,Chevron, etc) put in a specific grade (ie: 91octane) at one end say in Texas, and in NJ take out the same grade. They have no way of knowing whose gas it is only that it is of the correct grade. Once at their terminal they add any additional additives packages that they wish.

Is Hess that bad??... I mean it could be the reason why it's cheaper than the other gas stations ie. Exxon that we have here.
and I am noticing a decline in mpg since i've used it, but subtle.

u guys think i should switch over to exxon??

I use mobile 93 octane. Might try out sunoco93. Over here sunoco is kinda expensive. 94 octane?? froget it, it cost almost 2 bucks a gallon. And considering i'm doing 16-18MPG, that gonna cost me a fortune.

i heard that Shell is horrible cuz it contains a lot of impurities... but i usually stick to exxon

as for getting horrible gas mileage on the highway, try setting the cruise to 65 instead of going 80 the whole time... i did that and my gas mileage went from 21mpg to 25mpg... but i miss driving fast (all so i dont have to fill up so soon all the time)

Unocal out here. Someone at Jim Hall Racing said to me once they keep the additives down. Can't verify that but there are a couple Unocal stations in the area that sell 100 octane racing fuel!...@ $4.50/gal!

What about higher elevations such as Denver? How does that affect the octane recommendations? Gas stations here typically offer 89 as the highest octane.

Diamond Shamrock 93 (Super) works very well for me here in Texas. It's $1.549/gal.

ive noticed an average of 30 miles per tank using sunoco rather than amoco. Maybe the 94 octane has something to do with it.

Mile High

Because of the higher altitude in Denver, we don't need (or get) the higher octane gas. Car still runs fine/great though.

I get my gas at Costco. Never had any problems. And, at about 15 cents less per gallon, a bargain!

Here in Milwaukee we get reformulated gas due to a perceived air polution problem. Therefore our winter gas is different than our summer gas. This is mostly the result of idiots in Illinois who blame Wisconsin for all there problems.

I've got 10,000 miles on my 03 TL-S and get 29-31 MPG on the highway w/ the cruise set at 74 MPH. [cops ignore me at that speed]

I have used different major brands Moblie, Amaco, Citgo and really have not felt a difference in performance.

:wow:
I should hope the cops ignore you going only 74! I tend to drive fast on highways (80-95) and "slow down" to 79 to avoid trouble with the law:p

Well I get my gas from a station called SHEETZ its mini-mart type of station like WAWA. But this SHEETZ is very big a 20+ pump station that cars sometime are waiting to get to a pump depending on the time of day . The gas tanker trucks come in quite often because of the large amount of cars. I use there 93 octane & have not had any problems in the last 2yrs. I live in Washington D.C. but go to my sisters house in Southern Maryland about 70 miles away from D.C. I am there sometimes twice a week to visit so I get gas there most of the time. The price on premium 93 octane just went down there from $1.43 to $1.39 yesterday. I filled up this mourning before I came home. Here in D.C. premium from EXXON or AMOCO is about $1.72 or higher in some of the closer in Maryland suburburbs. I get gas in town about once a month.

Chervon only, been going to Chevron for 15 years. Wont touch any other gas. I've never had a problem and most of them around here give you free cofee and points towards a car wash.

I get:

16mpg in the city and 31 mpg on my long trips.

Dont use Exxon? Exxon was selling REGULAR gas in the SUPER GAS they were ripping people off. That is why they give people a $3.00 coupon sometimes. At least in New Jersey they were. I now use BP Amoco Ultimate 93. Not bad gas.

Not to start a political argument.. but what really does buying oil form the BROAD middle seast have to do with supporting terrorism.. Thats almost a far stretch.... unless they were buying it directy from Osama himself
