if your putting it on the bottom part of the pipe, wouldnt that defeat the purpose? you defintately want it in the engine bay, so there is no way it'll get wet

You mount the valve inbetween the 2 intake pipes, replacing the rubber fitting you have connecting them now...

mine is on the horizontal section, closer to the throttlebody. Chopped that AEM sticker right in half. Now it says AE instead of AEM, well half of the E anyway.

So you had to cut it to get it to fit with the bypass valve?

Question Where did you mount the bypass valve on you AEM CAI???

It says to put on the pipe running sideways out of the throttle body, but damn it's ugly. Anyone try to put it on the pipe running down under the car.

What's the difference as long as the bypass isn't submerged?

I was looking into buying an intake from snook soon. How much did everything cost with the intake and isnstall? How much did it affect the car? How much HP Gain? Any thing go wrong with the car and does it hurt the warrenty in anyway. Sorry for all the questions just want to be safe. Thanx

Have you seen the Sport Compact car article (april '01)on the AEM bypass valve? They said with the valve installed, the most they got the water up was about 18 inches, and the valve wouldn't let it go anymore than that...the cone filter was submerged in a tank of water, it was very highly recommended by SCC.

Its not that the bypass valve is hard to get on... ok it is hard and I broke part of it getting it on ... but its that it doesn't fit in the holes that allow it to go down into the fender.

oldirtyxu, you had to cut your pipe to get it to worl?

Water splatters on the filter all the time - the hood doesn't keep water from getting in!

From what I gathered from this article. It seems that the bypass valve only works when there is a vacuum in the CAI. Which means it'll only work when the bottom of the CAI is submerged, correct? It does nothing for water splattering into the CAI?
