I'm in progress, I will have my CLS6 donor by the end of the month and have a j35a3 on the stand right now that I'm starting to go through. Your right about the 2g TL side dieing out. How do you like you 3.5 6 speed, do you have build thread, I would like to compare?

If outright power is what you are looking for, go boost. You can make far more power easier and for about the same price

No build thread.. just kinda went off the grid when it was happening. i bought a beater 90 accord that was a pos then got a 95 integra to drive around and was honestly working mad ot to keep buying my parts for the swap... I really came on the forum to ask questions about problems i ran into during the swap.

Yeah DEPTLS, sadly the interest level is declining overall with our 2nd genner's.

There are a few diehards, but unless someone is really dedicated to our TL's bodystyle and able to absorb the parts/labor costs of the installing a 6 speed .....the loyality is shifting towards the 3rd Gen's. Good luck and keep inspiring others to make the swap.

I would do a 6 speed conversion if I had the time and money.

As for the decline in popularity... yeah. I'm pretty new here myself, but I got bored one day and went way back on the forum. This place was really booming in the early and mid 2000s. It was sort of like how the 3rd gen forum is now.

Plus people move on and get other cars. Our TLs are getting old at this point. I still love them though! Oddly enough when I was a kid in the late 1990s and early 2000s, I don't remember seeing any TLs. Only 6th generation Accords. I'm betting that has something to do with the closest Acura dealer being over an hour away from where I grew up, where as there was a Honda dealer right in town.

Yeah DEPTLS, follow Fsttyms1 if ya need some tips on the direction to take going forward. It's good to know that the interest level is still out there with the 2nd Gens. Lot's of work and time involved, but the final result will be a truly classic and unique TL. Hang in there man and best of luck with whatever may be next !!! .....

With the 3.5 and 6 speed ...... you're already way ahead of most wanna be performance modders. Now, ya gotta go for the gusto !

I would do this in a heartbeat IF they was an easy way to swap in a 6MT to a TL-P engine. Unfortunately its not...

Why would you want to keep the TL-P engine. Used type-s engines are cheap. And you can keep the tl-p engine, you just wont have as much power.

Don't worry, the love isn't lost. Just now introducing my 2g to that race car life. Baby girl only has 68k on her. I will do the 6 speed swap in the future hopefully.

Current tranny is going, so considering the 06-07 AV6 as the best option at this point as it is a direct bolt on for the most part. Doing 6MT requires TLS or cls engine, 6mt, type s ecu, and all the misc other parts for the swap.

Its the Mrs car and I already have my project car I'm building so turning this into another project is a no go. Just need it as a reliable DD for now until she is ready for something else.

It doesnt require the motor. The 6 speed bolts up to the p motor.

I did not know this... All the threads I read had folks changing the motor as well. Thanks for sharing this...

Will it require a new ecu as well? If I can keep the p motor and ecu, and just swap the tranny to a CLS 6mt for about the same price as putting in th AV6 trans I'll definitely consider it.

Edit: I think I may need the ecu...

IF you can find/get your hands on the richie module you dont have to swap/change a single thing.

I want to know that feeling.. i'm at the point now where 3.5 is great and all. but i want a little more power... idk if the Bottle, Boost or Building up to 3.7 is more worth my while... i still daily this car so i dont need a maintence hog, but I want a few more pointers on what it would cost\require of me to do a 3.5 to 3.7 i have the mdx motor with a few mods and changes to it. I should have kept that supercharger i had... Held on to it. and never hooked it up.. my mechanic dragged his ass on putting it on.. so i just got rid of it... SMH

DEPTLS what cams do you have in the MDX eng? I have a j35a3 on the stand know that I'm gonna PnP heads and IM and run CLS cams. And just found out that I will have my CLS6 delivered to my house by the end of the month.

What's good? I got a 03 TL-S soon to be swapped to 6mt. I got the trans but still need some more parts and making $300 every 2 weeks is gonna take a long time. Got a business going on the side so that will give it a nice boost to get there as well.. anotherguy831 is also 6 speed swapped
