Mobile 1 does carry the 5W. A lot of the people on this site use it. As for tranny fluid, I would just consult the manual as for when to change it.

I am not sure your first oil change should come at 10,000 miles. I called my dealership and the guy said 3,500 miles. I did not say I will go with synthetic oil.

LOLOLOLOL!
That was funny. I think there are lots of good synthetic oils you can use. Redline, Mobil 1, Valvoline. Some may not have the 5w-30 weight yet, but prob. will soon. Any good brand oil filters will work, if their changed regularly. As far as tranny, again, lots of the top brands will work, but I would check with several service managers to get a consensis on what's best for Acura's tranny. I promise I won't talk about A......

Sup Spook. I am the guy you met earlier today on your way out.

Anyhow, I changed to Synthetic around 10k miles. I use Mobil 1 5W-30 and most of the time use Mobil 1 filters also (maybe over kill).

Sweet looking car BTW.

Thumbs up When, and what to use...

Allright.... just got my car yesterday... 100 Miles on it now...

In want to change over to synth oil... and I know that I should wait until about 10k miles...

Question is... (and I don't want this to turn into a synth oil arguemnet)... its either Redline or Amsoil, probably Redline, there are a few stores in the area that carry redline...

-Does Mobile 1 have the proper oil (5 wieght oil?
-What filter to use?
-Should I wait to change the ATF out at about 25-30K or change it earlier? Are there different wieght ATF fluids?
-Anything Else that I should change with Synth? Brake fluid?

Any more help would be appriciated...

I believe the "owner's manual" says to wait for two scheduled oil changes BEFORE using a synthetic oil.

Wait 3000+ before switching to synth, probably will get better engine performance by changing after 6000.

As for tranny fluid - be careful. Many mechanics have told me that Hondas use special tranny fluid, and other fluids will make for very poor shift quality. I will only use Honda ATF myself, but I do run synth in the engine (Castrol).

tranny fluid is proprietary(use Honda only) I used mobil ATF before on my honda and it runs (shift way off!)very unusual....was thinking why is it shifting differently (improper downshift and upshift) then I remember i just changes my tranny fluid. so, did some research and i found out that Honda's need to use their own t. fluid, so i change it right away and i notice that shifting came back to proper condition.

Well, that's good to know about the Tranny Fluids... I wonder if there is anyone out there using a sythn t fluid that works, or if we're stuck using Honda ATF.
