When should Rotors Warp?
When should Rotors Warp?
I had my rotors and pads changed under warranty at 5,000 miles, but now they're gone again at 24,000 miles. Just wondering what's the normal milege they should ware.....
Realistically they should not need to be resurfaced for quite some time, I have had cars that did not need it after 35-40K miles. From what I have read here this is a common problem on the TL, the mileage will vary depending on your driving style.
Warpage is usually detected as a shake in the car while braking.
This is a big factor. If you-
1. are a two-footed driver (i.e. one on brake, one on gas)
2. are a "late-braker" (i.e. move at speed until the last second when approaching a light)
3. are a heavy braker (i.e. "I just like the way the car stops when I step hard on the brake")
4. have a habit of running through deep puddles
5. drive your car hard when it's cold (the car, not the climate)
then expect for this (among many other things) to occasionally be a problem.
I drive "nice" most of the time, and haven't had any issues thus far. In fact, my '95 Accord, with 112K miles (of mostly city driving) has the ORIGINAL rotors and PADS! I recently checked them- still not worn out. I'm pretty amazed.

On my TLS, I had my rotors replaced at 11K. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will not warped again.

Wow, 112K miles and still on the original pads?

They've lasted so long, it's almost comical. Of course, living in a state with no hills helps.

7. Improperly, or unevenly torqued lug nuts - esp dealer overtorquing
My TL-S has 24k miles and the rotors are warpped. The dealer will not replace/resurface them under warranty. I have a friend with a TL-P with 20k miles and his are sh$t too. No luck from the dealership either.:yack:

I just had mine done at 13k miles as well. I may be crazy, but it seems that as they rotors get more mileage on them (and may have been turned a time or two), they tend to warp less.
It just seems that way from my experience.
