Question What's your best 0-60 time

Just got my Gtech Pro today.

Make half a dozen runs, TCS on/off, SS, auto

Best time was 7.04. Averaged around 7.20

BTW, I do not have my VTEC controller hooked up yet.

Tempted to put my stock wheels/tires back on and see what happens.

my best time was 7.7 seconds, average about 6.8
the only mod i had was a home made cold air intake.
i think your wheels/tires weight slowed you down.

Probably the hot weather... when the temps were cooler (40-50 degrees) I pulled a best 0-60 time of 6.9 seconds with short ram, pulleys and the headers.

6.95 seconds, tried once. TCS off, D3 (yep D-three, not a typo)mode. Turned about 6200 rpm. Outside temperature 75 degrees. Flat road.
Also,
How much did everyone paid for their Gtech Pro ? I borrowed my friend's ~$139.

I agree with NSXNEXT that with the mods, especially a 65HP shot it should be no problem.

I'd bet cold hard cash on the TL to win. Assuming the mods are real and the GS430 is stock.

Bottom line is that the GS430 is fast, but not that fast.

Humm, I think I'll put that on my most wanted list, race list that is. Does any know where I can find a GS430 to run? I'll surely post the results, win or lose.

I was about to call BS too, but he has a 65 shot, which should be enough to keep him dead even with a GS430. From a roll however, the TL should have a slight advantage until 4th gear. I dont think he really won by that many car lengths, unless the GS430 had an incompetent driver or had more fuel.

Go to the dealer with a friend and get him to test drive a GS430. Then coincidentily show up and try to race him. If the salesperson starts making any trouble just turn the radio up and tell him that you couldnt hear him.

i meant..u can't really compare the two....1 is V6 and the other V8.
and both are sports sedans...but the other has a bigger power output...most likely will win if just stock...
but the type S is pretty fast for a v6...not losing that much to the v8 G430.

Who cares that a "juiced" TL beat a GS430, a stock one won't, not even an S-Type. If all anyone cared about was beating someone else over the quality of the vehicle, we'd all own Subaru WRX's. And regardless, whether you beat the GS430 or not, forget comparing engines, the GS300 is a V6 and I'd still take it over either a TL or S-Type. Why ? Beter built, better quality, better customer service (Lexus just won another JD Power award), better reliability, and a better combination of luxury and power. That "better bang for a buck" crap is for people that can just afford the car or need a second decent car.

Nice first post TedC. Did you come here just to ruffle our feathers?

Don't be bitter that our cars cost less and go faster than yours. Just be satisfied with what you have. Right?

Oh and one more thing: I like GS's.... it's just that your post reeks of trying to justify a large expediture to yourself. Your local priest/psychaiatrist/wife/mother would make a better audience for such confessions.

Hey "Mental", I own a GS430, and last time I checked it was ALOT faster than a TLS, 0-60...6.6 for a TLS, 5.8 for the GS; 1/4 mile..15.1 for the TLS, 14.7 for the GS. I won't even mention slalom or braking. Yes, there is a $20k difference between the 2, but you never hear anyone say that owning a Lexus is a ripoff. Hell, my wife owns a 330, and that only loses to your "special edition" TL by .1 seconds 0-60, with 40 less horsepower, for only 3k more.

Oh and "Mental", don't even defend a car (TLS) you don't own, calling it "ours", that looks silly. Jeez, your car can barely, and I mean barely, beat a GS300.

Tedc,

3k?.. don't think so. I've never seen base price on a 330 at 3k more. First off, BMW 330 starts at 33,900- and that includes NOTHING. No sports package, no sunroof, no cd. no special paint, no HID, no REAL leather. Now--.. you're already up to around 39K. Now that's 8k more than a Tl-S,...and still slower, AND smaller. That's why I chose my latest car to be a TL-S and not a 3 series.

BTW, if you're such a "big-baller" with the "bling-bling" step up to a 7 series, or atleast an LS. Don't try to compare cars that have 20k in the cost difference.

Ying, my wife paid $38k for a 2001 330 w/leather AND xenon, and as far as being slower ??? 1/10th of a second ?! Please, and which car handles better, sells more, and has better resale value ?! And as far as buying an LS or 7-series, those aren't even the same type of car, try reading back a couple of posts as to why the GS430 and the TLS were even compared in the first place. And please stop with the ebonics.

One more thing Yang, the reason you pay $20k less than my car is the fact I have ALL leather, not just on the seats, my dash doesn't pick apart, and there's never the mention of anything looking cheap in it either. Oh, and it will blow away both an LS and a 7-series and still seat 5 comfortably, try saying that about your TLS.

so you wanna talk class?

Step up to an M3/M5, and get your gs 430 burned by a full second. btw, you know your 430 isn't but .3 or maybe .4. faster than a TL-S. I'm running times of 6.1 for 0-60..but hey let's go up to a Hundred something, and see how the VTEC performs-- I'm sure your GS430 isn't that much quicker, and you paid 20K more.

Let's see what happens when I get that supercharger, and still have 15k to spare. hahaha..

Dont' come to this TL board, if all you're going to do is talk trash. You know you still can't beat the value. I know it was worth my money, and I can afford your car, and then some.

Now, I wanna hear more s--- about "bang for the buck" being for cheapos!

You are just mad that you wasted 20 G's. Ha ha ha. If you love your car so much, stop trash talking the TL-S and drive your damn Lexus.

Ying and Corey, you 2 crack me up. Ying, the fact that every car magazine and even Acura's own site tests your car running a 6.6 0-60, by certified professionals, not the guys writing the articles, but you can shave off 5/10th of a second because you're so good, that's hilarious. And my car is only .3 or .4 quicker ? try .8. And if you knew anything about BMW, they're vastly overpriced, and have only become competitive because of companies like Lexus, Acura and Infiniti. Believe me, they're fun to drive but I begged my wife to reconsider. Read your own board and see the complaints of quality in liu of price, how the TLS and TL look too similiar to the Accord V6, and the service by Acura. Again, you'll hear no GS owner ever say that since the TLS came out they feel ripped off and are trading theirs in for an Acura. C'mon, do you 2 feel ripped off when a kid in a riced-out 95 Civic, who only paid $11k with mods, blows by your $35k TLS ??!! And would beat me too ?? Again, it goes back to the Subaru WRX, you get what you pay for. I know I didn't get ripped off and neither did you, but please stop making these ridiculous claims that your car is faster and mine is a waste of money.

BTW

It's YANG.

Fine, we'll designate that it's a matter of opinion about getting ripped off etc. (I'm really teasing you about your lexus) I know they're nice cars, and I do enjoy driving them. But still, there's no way to compare these two cars. A GS is simply in a different class, although it's not impossible for me to bolt on an extra 5 grand, which would make my TL-S perform better than your GS.

I don't feel like trashing any other cars, unless some attempts to try and trash-talk the car that I drive.

The point is, the more money you spend on a performance car, the faster it can and should be. And spending extra G's for performance is definitely not a waste of money. No need to be a pansy and put other people's cars down. Cool down guys.

TedC: you are a liar. You have neither a GS430 or a BMW. I know this because anyone who owns both of those would never feel threatened by those who drive a car that costs half as much. A person who has reached that level in their life would be mature enough to recognize when his buttons are being pushed. That person would just smile and walk away.

That person is not you.

It is truly amazing how out of hand a thread can get in regards to cars. I own both a Lexus GS430 and also a 95 LS Legend Coupe. I love both cars and they are both very different in ride, quality and performance. It doesn't really matter what you have or what you can beat in 0-60. Respect other people's income level, style in taste and opinions. I have owned many cars and I come to respect the two best manufacturers out there - Honda and Toyota. I am not talking about Lexus and Acura because the Japanese created these cars for the American Consumer. They don't have Lexus and Acura per say in Japan. Some people on this board have worked very hard to get their Acura and they enjoy it with great pride , as well as people on the Lexus board have worked very hard to get their Lexus. How can you compare apples to apples in these two cars? For around $34K you can get a fully loaded TL-S with Navi compared to $55K for a GS430. Does it make the one who paid more for their car better? Absolutely not. I love both makes and models and have driven the TL-S and enjoyed it. I wanted a rear wheel drive car with a V8 and Lexus filled those requirements. In a couple of years I hope that Acura with the RL series will come out with a rear wheel drive V8. I will always own a Lexus or an Acura without question and fail. Mercedes, Jag, Infiniti - good cars but not my style. I am young and enjoy a spirited car.

Its okay to tell your stories about beating one car or another. But lets not make it a point to just totally rip on the cars that other people take pride in driving and owning. In the end you can't take your car to the grave but you can take your pride and happiness.

Happy driving and don't let yourself get beat by a PINTO.

Conman
