Below the air box is the intake resonator (big box under the air box). It's to reduce noise and prevent water from getting into the intake.

You might as well take if off, even if you have the short ram intake. The resonator is just in the way, and its probably blocking some air that your new intake could get at.

Ya its a fact but you dont have to worry about water getting into your ride unless you have a CAI and you are driving through water that would basically be coming in your doors or your front falls into a deep ass puddle.

All the worry about sucking water up, is just that worry. If you drive like a normal person and dont take your car for a swim then you will be fine.

I think thats what you were asking???

Even if you have a SRI, you still have to take off the resonator box, whats the point of a SRI when you won't get any air flow because the reonator blocks air flow. Take off the bumper and remove it.

What is that mini-cover for?

Can I just take that off for a little better airflow?

I think that little cover is just to make the engine compartment look more uniform - just looks. You really dont want any airflow from inside the engine cause its hotter. You will get your air from behind the bumper, just leave it on.
