Mr Hyde, Do you have any pics of your TL-S with the Phillips 6000K bulbs? I really don't like the boring white of the OEM Bulbs from the 02. So I was planning to swap them out for some nice PURPLE ONES!!! Show me pictures please!

I was thinking of doing that too? Where did you get the 6k bulbs from and how much were they? Are they D2R or D2S?

Thanks

How much will they cost the 6000K Phillips Bulbs?

If you changed them, what did you do with the oem HID bulbs?

Is it hard to change the HID bulbs, I heard we have to take out the radiator.

You do not remove the radiator! The radiator is in the middle of the car, and the headlights are on each side of it. So that's not nescesary. I'm sure there's room to each in and pull out the bulb.

Heres who i got them from, and some pics of what they look like.
I paid about 360 shipped to my door. Install did NOT involve removing the radiator or anything that intensive. Just had to remove the old HID's which for the drivers side required removing some plastic trim pieces.

Also the HID bulbs have one special star shaped screw with a bump in the middle of it that I could not find the correct screw driver for, but I was able to take em out using a small flathead that fit in perfectly. IF you look at the passenger side headlamp under the hood, that screw is clearly visible.

To anyone who really wants to do this, go over the costs and everything and then post here afterwards and I'll post step by steps for the 2002 TL's.

Note the pics arent that great, but they do a great job showing the light output on the ground. Due to glare and tiem constraints, it was hard to take a pic showing how the actual headlight housing looked, but if you think the ground looks good, you havent seen anything yet. Install one only for a night and check out the difference. It really is pretty significant.

Dont know about a purple tint, but these are bluish looking on the car and very white looking on the ground. Refelections off of white cars have a blusih tinge to them Be sure to shcek the other posts. Bobatimez has pics of them on his car as well.

Oh....hehe, as long as it has a tint to it. I seriously think the '02 OEM HID bulbs are just soo boring white. It doesn't feel like HID. I witnessed boba's car when they installed it. I didn't even know it was him until I noticed the TL-S rims. haha! You have the exact same one as boba's? if you do...imma get it!

You mentioned that in hindsight you would have gone with the D2R as suppose to the D2S. How bad is the glare? If I get them, should I stay with the D2R?

Thanks!!

Yeah Mr. Hyde, that is my question too. how bad is the glare? do you get warning light from oncoming cars? should I get D2S instead of D2R? I'm leaning toward of getting D2S.

oh yeah, I'll be converting my fog lights to philips HID 6000K soon... right now that's been back order. oh well... but within a week I should have it and I'll post some pictures... stay tune... hehe...

Well it turns out my galre problem was all my fault. After droppping my car I rasied my headlights so that I could see the road better, a nd whren I did that I went too far. So initially these were too high also. After adjusting the headlights again, they are now fine. So I am happy with the DS2's, and I get no highbeams from other drivers at all even on two lane roads with no streetlights and no dividers.

I know the site says the light out put is the same between the r's and s's, but that doesnt make sense to me as the r's have a portiuon of the bulb physically masked off. Seems to me that that must affect light output even if it is minimal.

Whether or not you get the s's vs the r's pretty much should be determined by how you feel about messing around with bulbs that cost $175 a piece. :p
