what would you do ?
so i have always wanted a TL and now that i see 6 speed is pretty doable i want one even more. A friend of mine has a CL manual type-s its a bit beat up and will sell it to me for 3500 down side is it has 205k
i dont actually own a TL YET so im debating
buying a TL then slowly piecing the swap/conversion together till the tranny goes and then swapping
or
buying his CL and parting it out (keeping what i need for the swap) and wait until i come across a TL that already has a blown tranny
clearly theres upsides and downsides to either option im leaning more towards buying his CL so i have EVERYTHING i need but 205k seems like alot of miles and i have NO idea where to even start to look for TLs with blown trannys

I think it would be too much work to buy the CL, part it out, keep the 6 spd parts and then find a TL (especially specifically with the blown tranny) then swap the parts and do the 6 spd swap and then sell whatever's left from the CL which would be pretty much pointless. I honestly don't know what to tell you man. It would be way easier if you already had a TL but that's a unique situation lol
I'd just buy the TL and then eventually piece together the swap

@Smai,
First thing you have to consider is aesthetics... 4doors vs 2doors, rounded trunk... This is obviously a personal preference.
Secondly, there is a TL-s on sale in the black market with a blown tranny for ridiculously cheap.
Now lastly, buy the damn CLS and start a 3.5 build. You'll save so much more money and have a new engine to play with. $3500 is a steal.

@rejckt
i rather have a 4-door
thanks for that heads we'll see if hes willing to ship it, and since its already a TLS i probably would just piece together a conversion
yea 3500 is a great price but from what i remember its pretty beat up so i would only get it to part it out,
thanks for your thoughts

205k miles depends on how well the car was taken care of. Although that's sort of high it would bug me and I personally wouldn't buy it. Plus 4 doors is just better than 2 any day hahaha
