what would be a great way to mod tails without buying the Type S tail?

what would be a great way to mod tails without buying the Type S tail?
smoke it to black? or like what Chien did and use the Vinyl stuff to wrap it around? and also where I would I find some place to do the smoking part? anybody who's done it, pics are appreciated, thanks man.

like what places can I get it smoked? or is there some plastic plastic layer I can put on there?
