Question What will be the next incentive on the TL-S?

I've been looking at new and used TL-S's w/navi for the past couple of months. I know that until 9/2/03, you can get 2.9% financing on a new 2d generation TL-S. What do you think will be the next incentive when this one runs out? All the Acura dealers in NJ have loads of TL's and TL-S's w/and w/o nav., so I can't see Acura just taking away the financing incentive and leaving it to the dealers to push the vehicles out the showroom door, especially w/the 04's about to arrive in a month. I'm thinking that it would be something better than the 2.9% they are currently offering. Anybody have any guesses?

I think the interest rates will go back up. Look at the rates for new homes, steadily going up again. I snagged the 2.9% for 60 months w/o hesistation. Rates will go up, BUT, they might cut better deals on the '03 TL-S left in stock. You decide...Good luck.

I just bought a TL-S 2 days ago, the dealers are trying to sell whatever they having now, 2.9% is a really low rate, I checked with credit union, internet sites, all of them have around 5.5%.
You do get much money off the MSRP now and some choice of colors and trims.
If you don't care about the color, trim and a little higher APR, then wait for another month, sure the price will drop more.

I was thinking about this yesterday while I negotiated one for my wife. I brought the car I'm trying to sell and gave him a price I would pay on monthly payments w/trade-in only ($460/mo.). He said he could meet the monthly payment on a nothing deal (i.e. selling car for invoice) by giving me $6k for my wife's '98 Civic. Then he wrote up the papers and told me to sign them. I told him I would sign as soon as I saw the amortization schedule for the monthly payments. Oops! He couldn't get to the $460/mo. based on the numbers on the sales contract. He was already at invoice, so he gave me my deposit back and said he would recheck the #'s on Monday. I'm not sure if he tried to screw me, or if he's an idiot.

Anyway, I cannot see Acrua raising the 2.9% rate as this would make it less desireable to sell a car they are trying to get rid of by October when the 04's come out. Also, even though mortgage rates are rising, it's the fixed rates that have been climbing. If you look at short term interest rates, they are still low. The risk on a 5 yr. fixed vs. 30 yr. fixed is vastly different.

So, in letting a very good deal go sour, I am betting on the deals only getting better. My wife wants a tl-s in silver w/navi. I've found at least 4 of them on lots in surrounding areas, so they are not rare. Even if I turn out to be wrong, I can still get one used as soon as I sell the Civic.

To be continued I guess.

2.9% will only apply to the 03's in prep for the arrival of the 04's they wont show up till late October, so if I were you I will definitely snag it at 2.9% you'd save over $1,930 in the life of the loan

I'm hoping that Acura might provide a manuf. to dealer/consumer incentive to move the 03's, at which point the dealer could sell below invoice. Then I can snag an interest only LOC using my home as collateral. Right now, the going rate is 3.75%, which would be 2.6% after taxes are taken into consideration. There's no immediate need for the new car, so I can take my time looking around.

I doubt Honda/Acura is doing this (or will be doing this). They have no intention of moving inventory (which is at 20 days) compared to a Saturn (118 days) or Ford (82 days)

So you think that Acura would just let the 2.9% financing lapse and that's the end of the incentive? At the very least they would extend the financing. The 04's won't be in for 2 months, but that seems like a short period of time when you're trying to move vehicles in a sluggish economy (even though the TL is a tremendous value, especially compared to my M3). These days, just about every manuf. is offering an incentive on their vehicles. So I find it difficult to think that Sept. 1 is the last day to get a good financing deal on the TLS.

My decision to wait for a better deal is justified.

http://www.edmunds.com/new/2003/acur...ves.3.5.Acura*

The manuf. is offering a $1,500 incentive to the dealers to move out the 03 models.

Yeehaw, the wife gets her TLS w/navi before our anniversary next week. Really gets me out of the jewelry and flowers bit.

I have them trying to "work with me on a price" I told them I don't want to pay any more than $400/mo. It should be really interesting to see what they come up with. I'm guessing that they will land about $425/mo for 5 yr. on a demo or something like that. I'll keep eveyone filled in.
