What is the sunlight sensor for?
I just installed my radar detector on the windshield right in the middle of the dash. I remember reading in the Owner's Manual about a light sensor in the middle of the dash between the left & right halves of defroster vents.
My question is, what does this sensor do? My detector partially covers it and I was curious what effect it will have. Is this for the daytime running lights on canadian models?

Yeppers, here's what the manual says:
"The climate control system has two sensors. A sunlight sensor is located in the top of the dashboard and a temperature sensor is next to the steering column. Do not cover the sensors or spill any liquid on them."
And then it shows two pictures of the sensors.
Hope this helps.

Cool thanks! Well it's only partially covered so I'll see how it affects the climate control. Thanks for the info!

well, if you don't the fan speed to 'auto', I'd imagine it probably wont affect anything. I noticed it working pretty nicely today. in sunny fla, whenever the sun falls on it, the fan spins up and then down when I move into the shade

Seems funny to me that Acura goes through all the trouble to put in a sunlight sensor but doesn't use it to control the headlights and make them automatic.
