What Should I Do.... Opinions Please

Well, as you all know I have crashed my car.... Im in such a state of confusion, that Im not sure what I should do regarding the TL.

I set up this poll to see what you guys would do, and hopefully it will help my decision. I have put a lot of money into it, and love it completely, but on the other hand I cant justify putting more money into it to fix, when my wifes car needs fixing too.

Were are currently at a point where money is very tight, in a couple of months we will be back on our feet again, but as of right now, it seems like parting out and buying a beater car and fixing her car, would be more economical.

Like I said Im very confused and Im looking toward the advice of the community that has been there since the day I bought my car (Nov 6, 2005 my bday). You guys have inspired me to make my TL a beast of a car, its nowhere near where I wanted it to be, but it was well on its way.......

Lend me your thoughts guys...... and gals

I'm not that familiar with what you've got into your car, so I don't feel like I should vote. I do however want to give you BIG ups for putting in the "stop being a pussy and decide" option. I think that way more people on this forum should stop taking themselves so seriously and follow that advice!

You seem like a good guy, and I hope your luck turns around damn fast.

^ Thank You.... If you read my Signature you will see what I have done. Originally it was a 99 TL-P, and I converted to a 03 Cl-S engine and 6 speed trans....

Sounds like you've invested quite a bit of time into this car. Are you attached to it, or do you just wanna make it 'go away'?
How bad is the damage?

I just feel like I could make some money from the parts, and help my wifes car, and just get a beater.... although...... im getting that integra prolly next week anyway..... shit man.... Im so confused lol.

is it still under warranty? if not i think you should just part it out and buy a beater...

i mean there will be other chances to buy a nice car but if money is tight right now, right now isn't the right time to mod anyways.

good luck

well the thing is... is that if I decide to fix it, it wouldnt be until we are back on our feet. I wont need to buy another car, because im getting my brothers old integra......

It seems to me like my mind is made up, I dont want to get rid of the car< but I still want opinions, and I appreciate your honest opinion lippstuh

Did you get an estimate on how much it would cost to bring it back to life?

Weigh that ... versus the money that you will lose parting it out. I mean ... if you just leave the car, as is ... wait a couple months until the money starts rolling in again ... then you can build it back and start driving it.

Do you need to have 2 cars to get to work? Then the option of the 'teg + fix your girl's car might be the better choice.

You've spent too much time and money on this so far to just part everything out and give up on her.

Since you don't have to spend money to get a beater cause you're getting the Integra, just fix your wife's car and wait until you get back on your feet later down the road and fix your baby up. I'm sure you'll regret it if you part it out.

According to your profile you have a 6spd swap so I say fix it up. Its just not worth parting out after all that time and effort.

i agree. you cant let all that hard work go to waste... i mean, the car is going to last a long time since you did the swap. no more worrying about auto. its all about manual. so fix it when you have the money.

Agree. Find out exactly what is wrong and weigh that with what it will cost. You did the swap. You know how to take things apart. There isnt much you couldnt replace yourself. Find out exactly what is wrong and go from there.

(ps thats what i would do)

Yeah X2 on cost. You have to weight against what you've invested into the car (alot considering you have 6mt) plus what you'll get for it in the long run too. If you shop around J/Y's for you suspension parts, and go with aftermarket body stuff (which is damn close to OEM, i have them on my front clip and noone can tell the diff.)

If you have collision use it, and if you know a body shop thats williing to work with you, they can possibly do stuff to get ur premium lowered (which isnt exactly legal but I've seen a few shops around who have no problem with it).

As much as I want to buy your trans and all the goodies for a 6mt swap, I say keep the car!

lol..... thanks for the addition on the poll. I would have voted for that one, but I had already voted for me not to be pussy and figure it out myslef.

in the end you guys are all right, which is what I was hoping for. I never wanted to part it out, but there was always that thing in the back of my head saying do it, its the right thing to do.

I still haven't moved the car or taken pics of the damage. I guess I've been too bummed out, but thanks to all of your wonderful words of encouragement, I will begin the process probably tomorrow, since I have to go to work in a couple hours (night shift blows)

Thanks Acurazine for keeping my car out of the junkyard.
