VTEC

The engagement point depends on which model you have.

I tuned mine to 3500 rpms with the VAFC. One day I will get that thing dyno-tuned.

ok man I can make a video also - it is very clear on my car with the intake that it is at 3800 RPM, and everyone else with a '99 will say the same except you - Im not a retard and just saying this for the hell of it, that is where it is on my car 100%

Man I could never go from a Type S to a 99TL. I generally hit 4k RPM off the line everytime. My gas mileage is pretty good on my Type S, but since on the 99's VTEC engages to early, I'd be sucking gas like no tomorrow...well looks like I won't be driving a 99 for a long time, or until I learn how to cool it off the line

GUYS!!! speciall those with 99 TL...at 3800 our cars pick up like 90% of the power and sounds loud..but listen carefully at 4500 (on second gear 'cause 1st revs too fast) and you WILL hear a difference in sound = louder

omg...no flamewar no hatin' just listen

Has anyone heard of a vtec controller jax, jaks or something like that... I seen it on Horsepower TV and can't find the product online or on HP Tv's website...It's a knob that you use to retard the timing of when the vtec kicks in

i have it...apexi's...

anyhows, for those on the 99 who still think vtec kiks in at 3800...go on a 00+ and you'll see how the car starts growling at 3800...but listen carefully at 4500 and you'll notice the difference. maybe not off first gear cause it revs too fast, but second or third and you'll see

hey buddy 99s and 00+ have different trannys, ones 4spd and ones 5spd that would be the reason why 00+'s vtec kick in higer. TRUST ME it kicks in at 3800 on the 99s in any gear!, i hear it and definitly feel it!

ya man I dont care what etxxz is trying to say...when I punch it (in 2nd or 3rd gear also) right at 3800 RPM, the intake roars like no other and doesnt change at 4500 at all...

No, it's only a one-stage VTEC. No multiple-stage VTEC exists. However, there is iVTEC.

I think you're talking about the 2-stage intake manifold runner. It changes with VTEC operation to vary airflow.

I think it is a little hard to tell if it is STOCK.I tried with my 02 Type-S It seems like 4800rpm but unsure yet,i'll try again in 2 day after the headers and mufflers are installed.

you still wont be able to tell if you are using the stock intake - you need to put in a new intake or at least remove your intake resonator to be able to really hear when the engine hits VTEC

They do exist. But dont expect anything siginificant out of them. I think most people found that on our cars they got only a few extra ponies. They tend to be more effective on DOHC motors.
